For Your Safety: A Message to All Buyers

  • New Seller Notice: If a seller is new to the Collectors Market with less than 200 posts. While everyone starts somewhere, we strongly recommend using a secure payment method like PayPal Goods & Services or a credit card for purchases for buyer protection.
  • Critical Security Alert: Established accounts can be compromised. Always request a custom timestamp (a photo of the watch with a note of your choosing) from any seller, regardless of their transaction history. For the highest security, a live video call is the best way to confirm the seller physically has the watch.

If a seller refuses these basic checks or you see any red flags, stop the transaction immediately.

Remember: A real seller with a genuine watch has nothing to hide and will understand your need for caution.

For sale: Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 1503 from 1946.  All original: dial, case, movement, and a Patek Certificate of Origin is included.  The ref. 1503 was noted for both the size of the case (a very modern diameter of 35mm) and the distinctive tear drop lugs.  Most of the ref. 1503 watches were made with a bi-metallic case: steel with gold lugs.  This one is very rare on two counts.  First: the original two-tone dial.  Second, the all steel case.  Having asked a couple of auction houses, the number of ref. 1503 with this set up from new differs between "3 to 5" (Phillips) to "possibility unique as I have not seen that before." (Sotheby's).  Bought at Phillips Three approximately 18 months ago (you can look up their valuation and the sale price online), just looking to get my money back on this one: $35000 or very near offer.

Would prefer face to face.  Can meet in most places in New York, Los Angeles, London, or Geneva.
