designer, Thank you for your feedback. I can only go by what I have calculated. Please see the original hang tag which listed the price as Euro 49,500 ex VAT. At an average rate of 20%, that would bring the price to Euro 59,400. The USD/EUR exchange rate that the companies seemed to be using back then was around 1.30 (even though rates were more like 1.20) , so that gets us to a price of $77,200. So I do apologise, the price was a bit less than $80,000, but not by much. Pricing was much different back in those days, as I am certain you are aware of. I have attached scans of the hang tag with the price listed for the sake of clarity.
