For Your Safety: A Message to All Buyers

  • New Seller Notice: If a seller is new to the Collectors Market with less than 200 posts. While everyone starts somewhere, we strongly recommend using a secure payment method like PayPal Goods & Services or a credit card for purchases for buyer protection.
  • Critical Security Alert: Established accounts can be compromised. Always request a custom timestamp (a photo of the watch with a note of your choosing) from any seller, regardless of their transaction history. For the highest security, a live video call is the best way to confirm the seller physically has the watch.

If a seller refuses these basic checks or you see any red flags, stop the transaction immediately.

Remember: A real seller with a genuine watch has nothing to hide and will understand your need for caution.

Jacquet Droz Paillonnee serial #1 from the original series in 2003

Offered for sale is this exceptionally rare and stunningly beautiful piece that is almost never seen on the market. This piece is number 1 of just 8 pieces made, and is numbered as such (No1/8) on the case back. This is a piece that transcends being a watch or timepiece, as it is truly a piece of fine art to be worn on the wrist.

For anyone not familiar with what this watch is, I will offer some basic details, but will happily respond to enquiries for further information.

The dial on this watch is handmade enamel, inlaid with gold paillons, which are small designs that have been stamped out of a sheet of solid gold. These paillons were made almost 200 years ago, and the pieces used in this dial are from the last remaining stocks. There is only one person in the entire world capable of making these, the lovely and supremely talented Ms. Anita Porchet. Feel free to Google her name for some further information about her talents. She has worked with and for all of the highest luxury brands in the world including Patek Philippe, Faberge, and many others too numerous to mention. Making these dials is an exercise in patience, skill, and fortitude, with any small mistake at any step of the multi stage process, capable of ruining the dial, and rendering it unusable.

Pictures cannot properly capture the depth and colour of the enamel and all of the incredibly subtle details. Needless to say, it is spectacular in person and never fails to elicit favourable comments. I will say without any doubt, this watch is the piece that elicits the most attention and comments over any other piece I ever have worn or seen. It has an incredible quality, and is so unique, and the colours so eye catching, it never fails to get noticed.

The watch is 100% complete with everything as originally sold:

The watch in 18k white gold, numbered “1/8” on the case back

The original strap in 85% condition

An optional white gold Jacquet Droz butterfly deployant buckle (~$3,500 new)

The original, standard white gold buckle

Outer cardboard J.D. box

Inner green stained J.D. wooden box with “NUMERUS CLAUSUS 1/8” brushed SS plaque

J.D. Instructions for Use in Japanese

J.D. Summary/Warranty book, signed and stamped 15th March 2004

Le Club Jacquet Droz Member Card

Additional J.D. Limited Edition two watch leather carrying case, numbered 64/88

I am pricing the piece at $25,500 or best reasonable offer. The pricing history on these pieces is pretty consistent, with multiple transactions in the $23,000~$23,500 range. I have priced this piece higher in consideration of the fact that this is #1, and that it comes with a spare white gold deployant buckle which cost approximately $3,500. I am always willing to listen to offers, and would consider selling the piece without the  deployant buckle, if the buyer does not want it.

Kind regards
