The resemblance is striking at first blush!

In December 2015, Philippe Dufour gave a presentation in which he compared the movement and finishing of his Simplicity to a somewhat similar-looking watch. He didn't name the model or brand of that other watch at the presentation, but, well, let's just say there's a reason I'm posting this here in this thread.
The 1860 with the L.U.C. 1.96 movement is a true masterpiece. And for me, the date complication is the icing on the cake. I rely upon the date complication, so I always prefer a date complication that's unobtrusive and tastefully done. Matching the date disc background to the dial color on the 1860 was a stroke of genius.
The one on the right (salmon dial) is white gold. I bought it preowned from a fellow collector who was a friend and who listed it here. It came with a black-on-white date disc, which was puzzling to me. I asked Chopard why it had a black-on-white date instead of black-on-salmon, and Chopard was puzzled too. They had no idea. They thought it was a mistake, so they changed it to black-on-salmon (at no cost).
Did Chopard actually make the 1860 in platinum? Years ago, I asked Chopard this question. They said "yes" and showed me some specifications. But they said they had never seen one, and they didn't think it could be ordered at the time. I had never seen an actual photo of a platinum piece, nor had I met anyone who owned one. Several years later, a local friend of mine and fellow collector stumbled upon a platinum piece for sale. He bought it, kept it for several years, and then offered it to me. It as truly a stroke of dumb luck.
