I had the privilege to see this earlier in Feb & instantly booked one

It’s a home run and the slimmer bezel and the LUC movement has taken to the level of RO & Nautilus …

More on possibly the best watch of the fair the Alpine XPS

I saw three watches and one clock...

1. Chopard 1860 LUC 2. Chopard Alpine Eagle XPS with LUC Movement 3. IWC Ingenieur - but at the price they're charging, you can get a Bulgari Octo Finissimo. The IWC has a generic movement and the Bulgari is just a better watch. For less than 1000 Euro pr...

Looking forward!

;)

Is this a salmon dial or pink as the name suggests?

 By: ArmisT : March 28th, 2023-06:16
It’s not a true pink at least, unless my eyes are completely shot.😳

The press release refers to it as Monta Rosa Pink dial.

A poetic name. ;)

Coming up next, the Monte Verde dial in green!

For the Middle Eastern market! I bet that'll come out at Dubai Watch Week 2023!

You mean without date?

 By: amanico : March 28th, 2023-19:14

Hmm, I don't know...

 By: patrick_y : March 28th, 2023-19:18
I'm not sure what surprises Chopard has in store for us. With Date, it'd have an ugly date hole. But then they can charge an extra 500-1000 Euros!

;) ;) ;)

The Middle Eastern market does prefer date...

 By: patrick_y : March 28th, 2023-19:21
The Middle Eastern market does prefer having a date and an automatic movement. This Chopard 96 movement is certainly capable of having a date - many 96 models have had dates. I'm actually really surprised the Alpine Eagle XPS LUC doesn't have a date, sinc...

Probably!

 By: patrick_y : March 28th, 2023-19:34
But generally, I've seen the vast majority of shoppers in Silicon Valley at stores ask for two things when they shop for a "nice" watch; automatic first and date second. Even the Lange is ruled out sometimes due to its lack of an automatic by some. The Om...

Ah, what I thought, too.

 By: amanico : March 29th, 2023-06:44

I agree wholeheartedly, aside from besting an AP Jumbo

 By: MichaelC : March 27th, 2023-21:55
Just my opinion, of course. But I am very interested in adding this to my small group.

As always, you have excellent taste.

 By: patrick_y : March 27th, 2023-22:28
This 96 series movement from Chopard is amongst the best on the market too. Micro rotor, COSC certified, Geneva Sea, and Swan Neck Spring! It's like those healthy foods with the gluten free certification, farm and pasture raised, no animal cruelty certifi...

I have a suspicion this watch will evoke feelings similar to a Jumbo

 By: MichaelC : March 28th, 2023-02:19
I'll know the moment I try it on, but I have a strong sense this one is going to feel quite special on the wrist.

It should!

 By: patrick_y : March 28th, 2023-03:25
The watch was designed to resemble the Genta watches and to be Chopard's equivalent to the AP RO Jumbo 15202 model. The Chopard arguably has a marginally better movement - COSC, Geneva Seal, and a Swan Neck Spring fine adjustment system.

I agree and I’m getting it to make it my trio of AEs

 By: Clueless_Collector : March 27th, 2023-22:33
I am excited to see the micro rotor in this AE, and that I don’t have to get that 1860. Looking forward to 3 different dials, 3 movements 👌🏻 ...

wink wink :)

Question for you guys

 By: TeutonicCarFan : March 27th, 2023-23:29
This lucent steel... does it hold up better to scratching or is it similar to rolex for example? The thing holding me back here is the polished center link if you will. Once those are scratched it drives me crazy. On brushed steel I could care less.

Yes it is harder than 916, not sure if it’s similar to Rolex 904…

 By: Clueless_Collector : March 28th, 2023-00:02
So far so good for me but I’m usually very cautious. Actually shiny steel is not easy to see scratches…eg my steel bracelet 5960/1A…there are many scratches but because it’s shiny, you cannot really tell from far.

What a trifecta it will be!

 By: patrick_y : March 28th, 2023-03:25

It’s colorful for sure. Thanks Patrick.

 By: Clueless_Collector : March 28th, 2023-05:39

:))))

 By: amanico : March 28th, 2023-05:54

Your 2 AE limited editions have different movements??

 By: ArmisT : March 28th, 2023-06:14
I thought these two were the same?

One regular and one is 8Hz.

 By: Clueless_Collector : March 28th, 2023-14:04

Yeah, I like a lot 😍

 By: ArmisT : March 29th, 2023-22:15

I gotta say, when I first saw this watch, a fellow AP came to mind

 By: MichaelC : March 28th, 2023-02:31
The Chopard is in very good company. Photo from AP: ...

Ha ha, enjoy!

Your post.

I was just joking. ;)

Finally

 By: keks : March 28th, 2023-05:26
The microrotor movement they make so well and no date!!! This is going in the right direction, lovely release for sure!!

They simply got rid of the date

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : March 28th, 2023-06:07
Now the dial is plain simple and the same watch looks better.

Yeeeesssss

 By: Esharp : March 28th, 2023-06:13
I love my OG blue dial Alpine Eagle but this is quite nice indeed. Only reservation is slightly small size of sub-seconds dial and is it a bit too high? (Fixing that would require a smaller case…) Does anyone know the price of the new LUC 1860? Best E.

I had the privilege to see this earlier in Feb & instantly booked one

Surely will share wrist shots and a detailed post once in hand

I love salmon dials and the St Moritz aka AE is nostalgia . Having the 8hz on the wrist I know the steel xps salmon would be a different level
