these two are as wildly different as any two watches could be so I have a hard time comprehending how anyone could have a hard time deciding between the two of them. (Personally, I don't care for the Chopard and like the 5712 very much.)

Uhmm, a beautiful orange and a gorgeous apple there... Let me vote on the Chopard forum though...
I never had a chance to see this Urushi dial in person unlike of course the 5712, so it's not a clear cut call, but the artistic value/rarity/difficulty of execution of the Chopard wins it my vote ;-)
