And yet another eagle has landed! Incoming Alpine Eagle XPS!

Sep 11, 2023,18:51 PM

Needless to say I was very excited when I got the call recently as I was eagerly waiting for it to land on my wrist!  Well, I must say I am a bit speechless regarding this beauty.  A lot have been said already with several members owning this beautiful reference and I can echo everything they’ve shared.  The one thing I hadn’t realize which is striking in the flesh is how the dial of the XPS is slightly bigger than the other alpine eagles, which also mean the bezel is a bit thinner making it more refined.

I find it hard to properly capture the colours of the watch in pictures as if you look at the last two pictures of my post a slight angle change of the wrist completely change the contrast on the markers in the hands.

What’s not to love!  Cheers!

I find that movement nicer looking than a Patek 240 caliber in some ways especially when you factor in the swan neck spring.

Tremendous movement!

I never realized how much the micro rotor can be so sexy!

I have a strong preference for micro rotors as I've always found them very special. The Caliber 240 is what got me started to like Patek Philippe and the shinier edges of the plates was so different than JLC (my other favorite brand at the time) that I ju...

Indeed these are really nice movement too!

Yes. But the 96 caliber is so much newer. The 240 came out in the late 70s!

 By: patrick_y : September 12th, 2023-20:53
And when the 240 came out, they had a lot of problems. Piaget probably came out with the first micro rotor movement and it just didn't work. They even had a bridge on top so there wouldn't be too many rubbing points and to reduce friction and it still did...

So happy for you!!

The AE XPS is an amazing watch indeed. I switched back to it a week ago even though I have many other integrated bracelet options which is a sign of real love, I would assume. Best, V.

Now, I understand why 😉😉😉
