While picking up the Pasha, discovered the Santos Dumont...

The other day I went to pick up my wife's temperamental Pasha, which liked to spin its large date to 35 and more smile

It had actually been sorted relatively quickly (around two weeks) and a full service has been thrown in to make sure nothing else untoward detracts from the ownership experience - actually took me longer to pick it up than it did them to fix it wink

While waiting I discovered the Santos Dumont W2007051.

From: http://en.worldtempus.com/watches/cartier/santos-de-cartier-santos-dumont-grand-modele-w2007051

Have not seen much about it here, so was about to ask if there are any owners...

White gold case, very thin (under 6mm), Piaget hand wound movement (430 MC), curved case back - fits on the wrist like a glove. Did not have my phone on me to take a pic but really liked it smile Not sure how popular it has been overall, though...

A beautiful and elegant timepiece.

I love its slender style. But it is the PG version I prefer. Fx

I am a white metal man :)

But can see how the PG works really well with this watch. It is also much thinner in real life than it appears in pictures. Surprised one does not see them more often...

Hard to argue with that :)

Truly a spectacular piece that way... Even more than the WG I tried on

Well, pricing is another matter...

And not something done based on the effort and materials at this level anymore

The question is, if one sees it as competition at that level...

Not sure how that works. Would many, who like it switch to AP due to price? If it exceeds what one can afford, it definitely has an effect but the question is how many they wanted to make and if the price was detrimental... I guess resale value will also ...

Classic as well as Elegant Dumont.

Hi ! In case if the above fascinates you then you are in right groove. I am fortunate to have one in colour metal and another ADLC which is skeleton which Fits to wrist well as well as light wt,. A bit uneasy while winding daily but the thickness of the w...

Having two is of course much better :)

 By: KMII : May 8th, 2016-04:01
Especially if one is the Skeleton. Really like the look of both - in spite of the same case shape they appear very different in terms of feel. And your pictures show them being quite versatile. Same basic movement?

Skeleton one rocks !!

Thanks as you liked both. After enjoying Dumont for almost 7 yrs I came across eye catching Dumont skeleton duly displayed in one of AD in 2014. After that it was on my wrist as my AD offered irresistible price. That was the reason you saw same size , cas...

Superb duo

I am a very big fan of the ADLC version but have not had the luxury of handling one in the flesh nor is very little written about it. What is your take having owned it for some time now if you do not mind sharing? Is winding an issue? Is the case very fra...

Kindly refer my reply last year Jan 2015

Must have missed the post when it was new but gives some additional, very useful details - thanks!

Remember!

I recall very well your comments last year but thought I\'d ask again if any updates as 16 months or so have passed! Assume still going strong! Thanks

It is a stunning Santos Dumont

And I really like the fact that it has no bezel with screws, which is historically also correct. This watch I prefer in white gold. Very classy watch with great case dimensions, that you can wear anytime. I still have and wear the small version from the 8...

Got pictures of yours?

 By: KMII : May 8th, 2016-09:04
I find it very nice without the screws, too! And in WG

Yes of course

The pink gold one in the middle (not mine) is the same size as the one you posted, it is from 2004. The platinum version is the regular CPCP version (1999), not limited and identical to the pre CPCP version, except for the word Paris underneath the brandn...

You have quite the collection!

 By: KMII : May 8th, 2016-12:28
They are really, really cool! Do they all have Piaget movements, or have different ones been used in the pre-2004 models? All similarly thin? Thanks a lot for sharing these - they make for an interesting lineage up to the current times!

Caliber

 By: Geo : May 8th, 2016-12:55
These smaller version all three have the Fred. Piguet caliber. The 1913 has a thicker case. I PM'd you an article about the Santos Dumont.

Brilliant - thanks a lot!

Will have a look at it later tonight

It truly is a wonderful piece live...

I was shopping for a slim dress watch a few months ago and stopped at the 5th Ave. boutique. I went in thinking about the Louis Cartier Tank or Ronde but it was the Santos Dumont in PG that really caught my eye. It's extremely elegant, slim profile, hugs ...

Thanks for your impressions!

Have yet to see the PG live but the WG definitely worked for me. Definitely on the shortlist of dress watches, together with the Chopard LUC XP / XPS
