The Cartier Drive Extra Flat - short lived in the catalog but wonderful irrespective βοΈπ«π·
Itβs no secret that I have been a huge fan of the Drive Extra Flat. The very thin profile, minimalist design, a new take on the Cartier design language - all spoke to me. A new dress watch at a time when integrated bracelet steel sports watches were all the rage spoke all the more to my sensibilities π
I guess the commercial side probably didnβt resonate as strongly with the shareholders as the visual did with me but fortunately I got mine while the getting was still possible π
The classical Piaget movement powering it might be small for the case but then again Cartier did the right thing with a solid case back - and in a two hander you do not notice the smallness of the movement.
Itβs instantly recognizable as a Cartier yet sufficiently different to be fresh. And the thin profile really makes it a wonderful watch, easily sliding under any cuffs you might pair it with.
So unfortunate that it left the catalog in some ways but great that they had the courage to make it in the first place ππ»ππ»
Any other Drives around?
