I have been looking at the CPCP minute repeaters and was wondering if anyone knows why the movements are different, despite the tiny run. Both watches appear to be from same era ! ...

I never knew there were two version of the minute repeater movement. I have only seen the one shown on the bottom. The one on top looks to be much higher end with a free sprung balance, better bridge architecture, and finer beveling on the bridges.

The yellow gold seems to use the RenĂ© and Papi movement. To my eye the top one looks like it might be an F Piguet/Blancpain cal 33, but just a guess. I read that the RenĂ© and Papi is reported to be a bit subdued in sound. ...

and is a manually wound Caliber 9401MC finished by Renaud & Papi. If memory serves, the white gold was from 2001/2002.
