Part IV: Vintage wrist and pocket watches

Dec 17, 2011,05:15 AM

And now we come to the wrist and pocket watches. This room illustrates two key points. Cartier was a preeminent haute horlogerie watchmaker in the twenties and thirties when it used high-end calibres like EWC and Victorin Piguet in its timepieces. Second, it was an innovator in case shapes and designs, starting with the Santos and Tank, and later on the Crash. Practically every wristwatch shape in represented here - tortue, tonneau, carre and so on.

I enjoyed all the photographs a lot and I know how hard it is to capture the watches in their vitrines. What a fantastic exposition it is, at this location in Marina Bay. Well done! GEO
