Many thanks Alkiro :) and my thoughts on the cabochon/spinel
Jul 08, 2016,15:59 PM
The cabochon/spinel is one of those things that drew me to the piece, I guess it intrigued me at first and wasn't sure if I would like it.
I think Cartier want to combine that luxury/utility into a dive watch and this was what they did with the Calibre De Cartier Diver lines the blue is in the DNA that's definatley why they keep it. In my opinion I love that detail, and changing the cabochon/spinel and not adding it is sacrilegious
I'll give a good car example, when Jeep went from round to square headlights (I believe in the YJ line) the community didn't like it and went crazy you can pick up a Jeep with square headlights for a bit cheaper than the round headlights (when they are practically the same care inside and out with one change), Jeep ended up changing back to round. There are even conversion kits out there to change square to round, they don't come cheap either.I think the cabochon/spinel is Cartier's signature and to change it up a little would ruin a lot of hearts.
My main concerns for a diver is the lume, I want something that lasts if I hold it a couple centimeters from my face and this piece does that exceptionally well.
It has all the features one would want for a dive watch, and I especially like that Cartier decided on 300 meters instead of 200 or a minimum to be considered a "dive watch" they want to compete with the big boys and I think they accomplished this task very well and it exceeds my expectations. Blue is definitely the colour of the day ;-) When I saw and read the FX review, the only thing which disturbed me with this watch was the blue cabochon. Of course, I know it is full part of the Cartier DNA but there is something wrong for a diving watch. ...

The Diver is one of the very watches I consider in its two-tones version. It brings a touch of warmth which remains very subtle. A great version and I'm sure that you will enjoy it a lot. Thanks for your post and pics! Fx
