If it bothers you, you could try dipping or dabbing it with some e-z-est coin cleaner...

It is a non abrasive way to remove tarnish/toning from old gold and silver coins.  I use it to clean silver dollars, and I used it to brighten a gold double eagle once that had some darkened parts from the copper in the alloy.  I have not tried it on vermeil, though. Definitely it test on something vermeil that is not a cartier watch first.

Although personally I'd just try to live with it since I think this toning it is part of the charm of vermeil.

Do not use any kind of polish!

All polishes contain abrasive and will remove the thin layer of gold. You could try asking Cartier if they recommend anything. I think it's better to have the discolored gold than to have the silver show through which will turn black. Best, Martin

Gold layer is gone there

The dark is silver reaction with your skin/transpiration. Most probably silversulfide. Gold is inert. So either you polish it with silver cloth, leave it as it is or have gold layer replaced. You could even try putting a gold leaf to try it yourself.
