I think I get Alex's point...

Not so long ago, Cartier's entry level and most commonly seen Tanks, Ballon Blu, Pasha, Santos models etc all use basic ETA movements (correct me if I am wrong). Indeed the movements are nothing special. Perhaps that is why they are not good enough for Alex and may be that is why these watches do not have display case backs.

Fast forward to 2010, Cartier introduced their basic in-house 1904 MC movement family and started to put them into their newer entry level watches such as the Calibre de Cartier, Tank Angalise, Tank MC etc. Later introduced the 1847 MC movement and put into Cle De Cartier and Ronde Croiser de Cartier. Apart from the last watch, the rest of them all have display case backs to show off Cartier's entry level in house calibers. Finishing is not to Petak or Lange standard but then you are not paying Petek/ Lange price.

Of course, you also get Cartier's ultra high end Fine Watch Making Collection like many of you have mentioned here. They are just jaw-droppingly gorgeous!

Dare I say, I think Cartier watches are very bipolar. Either their entry level stuff or their fine watch making stuff. Just my 2 cents.

Like always, correct me if I am wrong, I am still learning and new to here.

Cartier not enough.

I have an issue with Cartier watches, I really don't know where it comes from but I can tell that the movements are not enough for me, I think those Cartier movements aren't a great manufactured. But also I can tell that the design of the Cartier watches ...

Well, I tend to disagree for one reason: Cartier invested a lot in R&D

First of all, thanks for your message. Cartier is maybe the brand which has invested the most in movement developments during the last years. So I can tell you that the horological contents of Cartier watches are much above the quartz movement of The chro...

Thanks

Thank you for your comment, I need to (exactly as you just said) discover the Cartier collection cause the one that I have and a few mor for my friends are not enough to me. I love movements and there are for me a lot more interesting and beautiful. Thank...

I agree with FX

They have made watches in the last 5 years that have blown me away, both in terms of technical brilliance and aesthetic execution. R

I am not a Cartier fan, but I think you are totally wrong.

They made some interesting movements. Now, you like the style of their watches or not, but movements speaking, they deserve some interest. It is just up to you to discover the Cartier universe. Best, Nicolas

Thanks

There are a ton of Cartier watches with "mechanical" movements that are very interesting, particularly the discontinued CPCP models. If you're only looking at the quartz models, then yes, they can be a bit of a disappointment.

Cartier's collection has changed so much since this Chronoscaph

Not only CPCP, that was based upon calibers from third parties, but the new Fine Watch Making Collection, is the series of watches that makes the competition jealous. Amazing calibers, but also the more basic In House movements, like the 1904MC that power...

Thanks. Exactly, the thing is that as you see my watch is kind of old and when I bought it almos the whole collection of Cartier was a basic eta movement (I\'m not feel bad with etas) but the think is that when you compares price-quality movement you can ...
