I like that sandblasted gold one too!

Just wished they didn't have these hollowed links. Then I'd like it even more! Gimme more gold!  Don't take it away!

Bulgari Octo Finissimo Rose Gold๐Ÿฅ‡ Ref.103637 Quick Review

By: christianch : August 15th, 2023-15:58
I'm thrilled to share my newest acquisition: the Bulgari Octo Finissimo in rose gold, Ref. 103637. From its inception, the Octo Finissimo has held a special place in my heart, and I'm proud to have one in my collection. The allure of the sandblasted gold ...

Top shot

Looks great on you. I suspect a retired Gordon Gekko would approve!

Simply amazing!

By: Derreck : August 15th, 2023-17:12
The sandblasted rose gold looks amazing, the dial also looks wonderful, all in all a very balanced and very chique sports watch, hope you enjoy it, I sure did from your photos!

Should be

Rose gold and this particular brown go so well together, better then gold on gold imo

Very nice!

Congratulations to you for procuring this very special and most exclusive version of the Octo Finissimo! I haven't bought any of the gold models yet (so far all of mine have been steel and titanium) but wow, what a nice watch!

thank you ๐Ÿ™ I found somehow the titanium ones too light !

By: christianch : August 15th, 2023-19:33
Very different feeling with the full gold one. It is still very slim and I like that it has the 100Mt WR

Yes! That 100M water resistance is nice!

By: patrick_y : August 15th, 2023-20:58
I wished the gold ones were even heavier! Especially when compared to the steel version, the gold version is not that much heavier than the steel version since they hollow out the links in the gold bracelet but not in the steel bracelet.

thank you also for the photo ๐Ÿ™ I really think its strength is unusual

By: christianch : August 15th, 2023-19:34
beside the look is the heavier weight. I always found the titanium version very comfortable but almost too light !

I miss FIRENZE!

By: patrick_y : August 15th, 2023-22:45
You know, there's a hotel in FIRENZE for watch and clock lovers? It's called Hotel L'Orlogio! I didn't stay there, but I will consider staying there in the future!

wow 1BN! I could never do that..

By: christianch : August 16th, 2023-16:20
it would make me so nervous to have so many watches that I don't wear so I am not a collector !

Yeah... That's so wrong...

By: patrick_y : August 16th, 2023-17:28
The guy obviously can't do math. I saw the first few minutes of the YouTube video. 2000 watches. 1 billion Euros. That means that each watch ON AVERAGE has to be 500,000 Euros. Sorry, but that's just not the case. That's decades years of production AT CUR...

Some people really like that look!

By: patrick_y : August 16th, 2023-19:49
If you go to a Ralph Lauren store in SOHO, New York City, you'll see these old and rusty things all being sold at a premium!

This is a beautiful piece

Ever since I saw this released I've thought this and the skeleton version are my two favorites. Looks fantastic.

Congratulations!

By: kkwn98 : August 15th, 2023-19:40
That is one beautiful and extremely elegant watch you have there! Sporty and sophisticated. Bvlgari got the colour combination on this one just right. They also did a limited edition yellow gold version for the US market, but, curiously, with the same met...

thank you ๐Ÿ™ excellent analysis ! I am aware of the YG version for US only

By: christianch : August 15th, 2023-20:21
I think it must be very nice too but the rose gold should be a better fit with brown. I saw some photos of the sandblasted one and didn't seem to age very well. I really love the WR because I hate the limitations. I want to wear it at the pool, anywhere !...

The sandblasted titanium does hide scratches well!

By: patrick_y : August 16th, 2023-19:51
I've seen some people with the sandblasted titanium watch who are rough on their watches and the watch looks pretty good. Titanium can't really be polished in the traditional way, so if you really do get a big scratch, it's not easily polished away. And t...

Agree

By: kkwn98 : August 18th, 2023-17:17
Hi Patrick, yes, you're absolutely correct, the sandblasted titanium hides scratches very well. I have a sketch dial OF chronograph and after regular wear, I still can't see a single scuff or swirl on it (hope I didn't now jinx it!). Kind regards kkwn98

Yes! Titanium is actually harder than steel!

By: patrick_y : August 18th, 2023-18:00
Titanium is actually harder and more scratch resistant than steel. The sandblasted finish also hides scratches better than a polished finish would. But if you get big damage, then this is a big problem, as you can't polish titanium easily. Then, after pol...

That's a pleasant and shiny burden

I wonder why a single Finissimo can't be enough for some persons.๐Ÿ˜„ Do you have any idea? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Congrats.

Iโ€™m an OF fan for sure, and maybe to the contrary I loved the sandblasted gold OF even if it would not be something I could see myself wearing. Enjoy this one.

I like that sandblasted gold one too!

Just wished they didn't have these hollowed links. Then I'd like it even more! Gimme more gold! Don't take it away! Photo from Hodinkee ...

actually mine has the latest bvl 138

By: christianch : August 16th, 2023-08:23
The phillips (even if is not so old, was released in December last year) has the older version ...

Yay! You've got both movements to compare with!

By: patrick_y : August 16th, 2023-17:45
My new Steel Sejima has the new movement. My titanium version has the old movement. But I will never wear the Sejima outside of formal evenings, so it's unlikely that it'll make a big difference to me.

The Sejima is pretty cool!

By: patrick_y : August 16th, 2023-19:46
But the all polished look just doesn't look right in certain settings. It's too shiny, and almost a generic kind of shiny. Hard to describe. The watch looks terrible outdoors during the day. It looks good indoors at night or outdoors at night. This is a w...

I'll have to try that one day!

By: patrick_y : August 16th, 2023-22:39
I really want that blue dial one... That'd be like a perfect replacement to my Nautilus! But I've already ordered the Chopard Alpine Eagle - so going to give that a try first.

Observation about the gold bracelet

By: kkwn98 : August 18th, 2023-17:23
I've noticed for a while now that some of the publicity shots of the gold OFs show the underside of the bracelet to be solid, while it is, in fact, hollowed out. You will see this from the two pictures above. I've always wondered why they do this, as it's...

For the record, many brands do hollow out their gold bracelets and cases...

By: patrick_y : August 18th, 2023-17:33
Rolex used to do this for years until right around 20 years ago they went to a more solid construction. Many brands, including top tier brands, still do hollow construction even today. But, yes, Bulgari is a little unusual that they illustrate this so cle...

Understood, but...

By: kkwn98 : August 18th, 2023-17:44
Hi Patrick, I agree, many brands out there do hollow out gold cases and bracelets. Some are more subtle than others. In Bvlgari's case, I guess there is an argument that they do this for weight and balance reasons, but the thing that annoys me is that cer...

I haven't noticed that in the marketing shots...

By: patrick_y : August 18th, 2023-18:03
But yes! That'd be false advertising if the marketing shots showed one thing and the actual product was not the case.

Indeed check the 3D version on the site

By: christianch : August 19th, 2023-08:32
some more evidence enclosed ๐Ÿ˜… This said I had the chance to handle the watch before buying it and perhaps it was done for weight reasons.. still is a bit strange ...

Thanks for sharing this! This is the first time I've seen this.

By: patrick_y : August 19th, 2023-17:57
On the USA website we don't have the 3D view. But upon closely looking at one of the photos, I do see the links completely filled in! Perhaps the photographs were done off prototypes which weren't reflective actual customer watches that were sold. Either ...

wow good point ๐Ÿฆ…eye!

By: christianch : August 19th, 2023-08:29
I didn't pay attention but indeed the marketing photo shows the first links without the hollow ๐Ÿ˜… This made me now curious and I went to the Bulgari site to check the 360 degrees rendering.. see attached photos.. Pretty interesting no ? ...

It's a mystery why they do this

By: kkwn98 : August 19th, 2023-11:44
Hi christianch, Thanks for putting these images up. Yes, they are the ones I saw as well and I think somewhere else as well, although your ones are directly from the Bvlgari website! I have this one too and, like you, I went in eyes wide open, as I examin...

ahh feel free to post your photos too :) I didn't see many live photos of it! ๐Ÿ‘my positive spin is that

By: christianch : August 19th, 2023-23:06
probably the prototype had full links (I think I spotted one behind the glass in instagram but hard to know). The official bulgari 3D photos could be misleading but I think it was based on a computer rendering not the real watch. As a positive spin I thin...

Thank you Jay, I think the previous version was charming too ๐Ÿ‘I don't recall seeing it at all

By: christianch : August 16th, 2023-08:25
here in Switzerland ..a rare bird indeed. But now that I heard more about the difference in the movement I am glad I got the newest version. I can only imagine how annoying it is to have a watch stopping regularly..
