Amazing piece!

It has been a long time since we had a fresh, modern design from major brands
Looking forward to trying it on and see how its unusual proportion fit on the wrist

Tried on the Octo Finissimo yesterday...

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-06:57
I finally got round to trying on the new Octo Finissimo yesterday and I have to say I was impressed. The one in the pictures below was the New York Boutique LE (15 examples). It’s hard to imagine just how the thin the watch is (40mm diameter, 5.15mm thick...

A great piece, underrated

 By: Tim_M : December 15th, 2017-07:32
Its GPHG win was well deserved, and this must be considered one of the best debuts from any brand over the last year. As you say, it cannot be appreciated in full unless one tries the watch firsthand. It looks, feels, and IS special. This is pure opinion,...

The watch itself is very impressive.

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-08:16
And indeed, the feel in person greatly enhances the initial impressions from seeing pictures. I saw the other pieces (tourb, MR, skeleton etc.) but this one was the most impressive to me as it seemed to distill the essence of the watch. I have no idea of ...

Nice photos, Will.

I've heard nothing but good about this watch and you are confirming that. This piece has blue instead of black, as well as the "5th" which differentiates it from the regular, I guess?

Correct.

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-08:18
Blue hands, indices and “Fifth Avenue” on the Dial. One side of the case has 1 of 15 etched as well, and there’s a blue New York, Roma on the back crystal (which I’m not a huge fan of). I actually like the blue accents on this piece, and am somewhat tempt...

D'oh! (head slap) [nt]

 By: TheMadDruid : December 16th, 2017-04:17

Totally agree.

I tried on Esharp's new titanium Finissimo and while it was too big for my wrists, saying it was very light was an understatement! It almost felt like a plastic watch! I agree with the blue accents. They break up the monotone grey of the titanium piece. D...

Thanks Alfred - and another owner's impressions

 By: Esharp : December 15th, 2017-18:34
Hi all - was just wearing mine yesterday. I bought it on bracelet, the 'regular' edition, and am pleased as punch. This thing flies under the radar like a stealth fighter. Most of my colleagues who I work with on a daily basis and know I'm into watches, b...

Good pics!

I didn't realize the markers are blue as well as the hands, what a nice look.

Agreed and thank you!

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-08:19
I liked the blue accents a lot on this piece.

Looks great on your wrist!

 By: AnthonyTsai : December 15th, 2017-07:50
The matte titanium case looks great with the blue hands imo. Cheers, Anthony

Agreed!

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-08:25
The matte grey and blue accents worked really well. A very cool piece indeed.

I have it - its great

How have your thoughts evolved on the piece over ownership?

Unlike some other watches ...

 By: jim vancouver : December 15th, 2017-09:23
... this Finissimo has not disappointed. Good ergonomics, easy to manually wind, comfortable. The only downside is that the timing can get erratic if it gets banged around. Range -10s to +10s per day, average 2 weeks +4s, On a winder +1s/day. Its a good w...

Thanks for the feedback Jim!

Nice to know.

Hope it is useful [nt]

Finally some data!

By: Velociphile - No longer in the building : December 16th, 2017-02:08
Thanks Jim, helpful insight.

The “5th” index and the blued hands are really cool (nice contrast with the grey dial and case colour). But the 40x40mm case size looks a little bit too big for me

 By: Alkiro1 : December 15th, 2017-08:13
I would have preferred to see the same case shape but without those tiny lugs and a better integrated bracelet. The watch would have appeared “lighter” for me and more in harmony with the thinness of this timepiece. Best wishes Alkiro

Thanks Alkiro.

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-08:28
I was prepared for a massive wearing piece but on the wrist it felt like (or maybe a bit smaller? Would have to do a side by side) my RO 15300. The standout first impression for me (apart from the thinness and weight...) was the comfort and suppleness of ...

The caveat is I spent a brief time with the piece and they’re just initial impressions.

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-10:05
But you’re right, there’s no substitute for trying things on in person!

When it’s possible that’s definitely better yes

 By: Alkiro1 : December 15th, 2017-15:12
Best wishes Alkiro

I saw your picture and I trust you 😉

Best wishes Alkiro

I was charmed by it as well

 By: radone : December 15th, 2017-11:03
I tried both versions but it is hard to say which is nicer. ...

I like the bracelet option personally.

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-12:23
Beautiful bracelet that works well with the overall design in my opinion.

Nice version of an already nice watch.

 By: VMM : December 15th, 2017-11:19
Looks great on your wrist. I like the blue/Ti combination. Thanks for the pics. Vte

Hey there now...

 By: ThomasM : December 15th, 2017-16:01
Hi, Willski, I totally agree with you about the Octo Finissimo... But you don't have to pick on the Royal Oak...this one is c. 15 years old with nearly 1 million airline miles under its belt ... 😉 ...

Its APs new direction.....

 By: SALMANPK : December 15th, 2017-16:16
Instead of going the way its Supporters and Well Wishers were telling it they went the opposite way. If they buckled down on the R&D and continued experimenting maybe they would have come up with a cost effective way to put it in serial production. In my ...

Haha well yours is not normal!

 By: willski : December 15th, 2017-16:49
My run of the mill 15300 has definitely not flown close to 1m miles but is significantly the worse for wear... 😁🤔

Hehehehe [nt]

 By: ThomasM : December 17th, 2017-15:39

Love the watch, and as you say it must be on the wrist to truely appreciate it. But...

 By: Jay (Eire) : December 15th, 2017-17:23
..that "5th", come on, that's a cop out from a design perspective. Lazy and unimaginative.

I didn’t mind that part too much.

 By: willski : December 16th, 2017-17:35
The blue accents were great, but the Fifth Avenue and stamping on the back were so-so for me.

Looks very special and different from most watches out there, bold and sporty too...

 By: Clueless_Collector : December 15th, 2017-22:48
I’m not going to wear nice watches like this for swimming so 30m is fine, got other WR watches for that purpose. Rgds Raymond

Yes true.

 By: willski : December 16th, 2017-17:36
But having good WR is always nice

Looks too big on you

 By: watch-er : December 16th, 2017-16:41
is all I can add.

Okay thanks

 By: willski : December 16th, 2017-17:36

The Fifth Avenue version is very special

 By: Geo : December 26th, 2019-07:57
And I really like the special editions Bvlgari is making, just wished they dont produce so many. GEO
