don't know who gave this nickname to this watch, Anthony

May 16, 2009,12:02 PM

But it is a fact that it is known in France under this nickname.

Didn't mean to offend anyone, while using this nickname, as it is the case when we name the GPF 2 / 56 or its Re Edition Pam 341 Egiziano, or the 6154 " the Small Egiziano ", or the Rolex 1655 the " Steve Mac Queen " etc...

At the contrary, this watch being a beautiful Breguet, I didn't think a second that it would be problematic to use its nickname, instead of its rough reference " 3330 ".

Best,

Nicolas

Your opinion: is it too much...

... to have the perpetual 5327 and desire also the classique 7337 ? I sure do not want to throw money away... My other option is to start to save and buy a Breguet Tourbillon... Maybe the Tradition Tourbillon, which costs about 5 times the price of 7337.....

I'd directly go to the Tourbillon

Ok, a Breguet pc is very interesting as the complication is great, but too close, aesthetically speaking, to the ' Chinese ". As you already own the Tradition and you will get the " Chinese " ( if not already done...LOL ), I'd go on another great Classic ...

Chinese, dear Nico?

 By: Tassos : May 11th, 2009-11:57
... You used this description before... What exactly means, in watch terms? I have the perpetual 5327 already ( I do not have any Tradition model, but I also own the YG Marine...), so maybe you are right about covering the models... Your "gout" is towards...

The " Chinese " was the nickname given to this watch

 By: amanico : May 11th, 2009-12:06
Don't know who to credit for, but this is a brilliant pic of a " Chinese ": As for the tourbi, I woulp pass on the Tradition Tourbi, 1st because you alredy own the Tradition, then because I'm not a big fan of its huge plexy... Not for a watch like this Tr...

...merci for the clarification of the Chinese (Chinois n'est pas? Ou Chinoise?) So instead of this You propose this (sorry, but you know my preference is towards YG or at least RG...) Your opinion is respected ( I am not exactly crazy about the domed crys...

The Messidor is much less expensive

 By: amanico : May 11th, 2009-12:36
You will be, with the RG Messidor, way less than 100 K Euros. I don't have the list price with me, but I'm pretty sure that it is way less expensive than the Tradition Tourbillon. Yes " Chinoise " for us, Frenchies. Best, my friend. Nicolas

I agree...

 By: MiniCooper : May 11th, 2009-16:30
with Nicolas- better go with the Messidor cheers

Being an ethnic Chinese, I 'll be interested in learning why the watch

 By: happyguy1688 : May 11th, 2009-20:51
is nicknamed Chinese, is it because it reminds people of the hats wear in Ching Dynasty of China?

I agree with you on your Messidor comments but one thing to consider

 By: ArthurSG : May 11th, 2009-21:52
I actually tried it on a couple of times and its very very hard to read the time. But of course with the open worked frame, reading of the time could indeed be very much a secondary intent LOL. It is however a very eye catching and stunning piece.

I think that with that kind of marvel, you don't read the time

 By: amanico : May 11th, 2009-22:03
But you look at the time, you admire it. Best, Nicolas

Nicolas, I'm assuming the nickname the "Chinese" came from the small windows

 By: AnthonyTsai : May 16th, 2009-11:10
for the date and day of the week at 2 and 10 o'clock. If this is in reference to the stereotypical small slant eyes for Chinese, I'd appreciate it if you stop using this "Chinese" nickname for this Breguet. I don't know who made this name up but it is not...

I totally am in support of using the nicknames that watches get, but when the nickname has some racial underpinnings to it, that's when we shouldn't be using that nickname. Cheers, Anthony

NOT Chinese.....but....Korean

Also being of Chinese ethnicity (genetics), I am "offended" by the nickname. Actually, I don't give a rat's arse what the nicknames are because I'm not as sensitive or politically correct as the Americans. To the shock of my peers at a British boarding sc...

Chinese art is amongst the very best ever made. One could assume that the nickname came because of the beauty and the symmetry of the watch I highly doubt that the watch was given this name as an offensive or a mockery of the chinese race. China has a lon...

I'd rather have a 7337!

 By: DRMW : May 11th, 2009-12:47
I'm not a fan of the Tradition Tourby, to me it looks odd with the dial and tourby above it which is distracting from looking. The regular La Tradition, well that's a awesome piece! My personal choice would be the 7337! -MW

Some thoughts …

Dear Tassos, These sorts of deliberations are always fun. I personally would not add a 7337 to your collection: Dress wise they serve the same purpose – they are both formal dress watches. From the perspective of workmanship and finish you have got much t...

You love the 7337...besides... the Tradition will one day be recognised as a Fad.

Hi Jack, Interesting comments on the plate finishes of the Tradition line. This is apparently produced by a hand sandblasting process on the gold-plated brass, although I have never read or seen much detail on this. It is of course designed to mimic A.-L....

Let's meet on the steps of the Cenotaph in 2029

Hi Andrew, I hope I did not offend, as I mentioned 'our opinions are just a reflection of our own personal desires, and we are all very different' . I was just trying to reaffirm to Tassos that the 7337 and the Tradition are extremely different pieces.......

Breguet’s cenotaph?

 By: AndrewD : May 16th, 2009-04:24
It’s a date, Jack! Of course no offense taken. If I sounded too sober and serious I didn’t mean to. I wish Montres Breguet would provide more information on the way they finish the tradition bridges and plates. I think it’s a suitable finish for that watc...

Hi Andrew, We might be two senile old men with raincoats and when some one walks past, flash them open and say...Pst Wanna buy a genuine Breguet?" I will be Al and you can be Zyma. I will bring the Scotch.... just incase you forget. kindest regards, Jack

Hello Tassos, If the7337 was a perpetual calendar I would be very much tempted change it for mine, but it is'nt... Aesthetics of the 7337 are great for sure. The tourbillon is a remarkable piece but not my cup o' tea cheers, Lutz
