The 7727 is an amazing watch

Aug 20, 2018,12:03 PM

the only thing that really repulse me on the watch (I know it is a strong word) is the font chosen for the 10hz. This is really a poor choice, and does lot fit at all with the Classic Breguet look of the watch.
I find that very disappointing.
Technically though, what a masterpiece!
Best,
É.

What's your take on the Breguet 7727, please?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 4th, 2018-11:32
The 7727 came out 4 years ago, winning the GPHG 2014 Aiguille d'or. It has a 10hz movement with magnetic pivots and twin silicon escape wheels. At 42mm and 10mm thick, it's quite wearable. Breguet has announced a new movement design featuring a continuous...

My only issue with the 7727

 By: sham1 : August 4th, 2018-11:59
is its size at 41.9mm coupled my the straight lugs which means it will be too large for many wrists. But if it fits you fine, you are most fortunate as it is a technological tour de force with its accuracy (+2 -1 seconds I believe) I tried it on twice, ho...

Thanks, Sham!

Your vote of confidence is big with me!

+1

Too chunky for me.

Tour de force is a good day way to describe it!

A true innovation

Hi Sham1,

Can you tell me where did you get the 41.9mm? The official site stated 41mm. thanks

You are absolutely right!

 By: sham1 : January 31st, 2019-23:13
My mistake, sorry.

No worries and please excuse me

Due to my small wrist I get a bit pedantic about size

I can totally understand as

 By: sham1 : February 1st, 2019-00:01
I have the exact same problem. The watch must fit your wrist not vice versa. I have tried to get the 7727 to fit my wrist but it is too large. I have tried to get the 40mm 7140 to fit my wrist and it is too large. I have tried getting a 38mm 5277 to fit m...

LOL :) [nt]

Yes, the 10hz on the dial is a deal killer for many!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 4th, 2018-13:35
I get that the original A.L.Breguet was an innovator so they are trying to have a taste of that. What do you think of the idea of a Breguet spring drive?

Neither i mate [nt]

 By: Passionata_george : August 4th, 2018-13:56

Higher frequency and accuracy, I imagine.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 4th, 2018-14:19
See the hodinkee interview with the Breguet CEO for details, such as they are.

I'm getting a chronometer with that sort of speed,

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 5th, 2018-12:19
But the 7727 doesn't sound like anything, I think the silicon is quiet. Although, the zenith defy lab was said to have a whine to it. That's a watch I really don't like since I think it loses its connection to watchmaking in a way that the Breguet doesn't...

Should check in metal [nt]

7727 - a true innovation!

 By: Bounce781 : August 4th, 2018-14:54
AL Breguet himself would be proud of the thinking behind it (but maybe not the “10Hz” on the dial) 😀

👍👍👍 [nt]

The 10 Hz is an outstanding watch

No other manufacturer is offering a magnetic bearing for the balance wheel, hence this watch is offering a lot of modern watch making. I would be vey proud to own it.

Thanks, Count! [nt]

A good strategy 👍 [nt]

The 10Hz designation on the dial is like a blemish

 By: Uncle Chico : August 5th, 2018-00:59
The 7147 is a classic dress watch. The 7727 is a technological tour de force. The most important element of a watch for me is the aesthetic and the 7727 dial is slightly marred with the unnecessary script.

More pictures!

The 7727 is lovely but aesthetically "off" to me

 By: Spartacus : August 5th, 2018-16:19
On the 7727, I really like how the seconds subdial cuts through the main eccentric hour/minute chapter ring, but the power reserve, IMO, works much better if it "hangs" from 1:30 or 10:30 like on the 5277 or the classic 3137, respectively. On the 7727, it...

I understand where you are coming from and you're not alone. I would say to those who feel that way to see the watch in person if you have not had a chance yet. In person, the 10hz is quite understated, at least to me. I think the contrast between modern ...

I like Breguet. A 5907 is lovely. They are available second-hand very reasonably. www.watchprosite.com

Hi Spangles,

 By: nwk00 : January 31st, 2019-22:20
where did you get 42mm for the size measurement? Thanks thanks

Hi, looks like I miswrote, it's officially 41mm.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : February 1st, 2019-03:47
I have the watch now and it's delightful.

Thanks!

It is borderline big for me but I am also considering it. I really like the creative thinking behind the watch mechanism. Wear in good health.

This watch is innovative and Breguet would be proud of it !

 By: Gumball : February 8th, 2019-03:24
Slightly too big IMHO but superbly classic and technical at the same time. The 10hz on the dial is weird and even more weird when it was written in red. BUT I am sure in 50 years, every geek would like to own this red version... ...

I think AL Breguet would be happy with this watch, too!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : February 8th, 2019-10:51
The 10hz is definitely a challenge to people's ideas of Breguet, intentionally reminding people that modern innovation is part of the package. I do wonder how it will age!

Did they ever sell that red version?

 By: magellan : February 22nd, 2019-11:59
Was this not just the prototype? I did have it in hand but i did not like it at all. I had a lot of personal contacts with Breguet, when it was presented with the red "10Hz". In all honesty, I told them, that I found that red print awful for a classic(!) ...

I don't know if the red print version ever went beyond a prototype.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : February 23rd, 2019-19:05
Thank you for being one of the voices telling Breguet an honest take on things. I had a Breguet higher up insist that people really want the 10hz on the dial. I don't mind it at all, but it's possible he also believed the earth is flat. In any case, I hop...
