I proudly present my Breguet XX Transatlantique Reveil, reference 3860, which found it's way to me for the second time

Let's go back to 1999 - everyone was excited about the upcoming Millenium and nervous about potential failure in electronic systems.
So it was a perfect opportunity for Breguet to introduce a limited edition within the XX line, a watch with an anachronistic complication: the alarm function. Once I saw this watch, I immediately found it very appealing:
In the year 2000 (the world had not stopped working and the Y2K bug had not bitten) I lived in London, and on a window shopping Saturday on New Bond Street I saw the 3860 on display at Marcus. What followed was a memorable impulse buying experience, since it lasted 3 hours due to a lengthy telephone credit card verification with my German bank and very interesting talks about watches and also diamonds with the very friendly and knowledgeable guys at Marcus ;-)
At that time I did not take photos of watches, so no old shots available :-(
My first 3860 had to go for some unpleasant (and later found to be unnecessary) reasons in late 2001, but it never fell out of my memory. On the few offers I saw over the years I have been to indecisive, too late or the package had not been complete...
Last Saturday morning, enjoying my first cup of coffee, I browsed some watch sites and got complete awake when I saw this only some hours old offer for a complete, unpolished 3860 at a reasonable price. I guess I've never been so quick writing an email before and I was lucky to secure the watch literally half an hour later
So, now here it is - a quite rare and unusual Type XX with a beautiful glossy dial and still waiting for the perfect strap...

Hope you enjoyed this not so short story ;-)
Cheers
Henrik
