One of the most exciting Breguet watch, the Ref 3337.

Well, at least to me!

Certainly with the Tradition and the exclusive Tourbillon Messidor, one of the most exciting Breguet.

All we expect from a Breguet is here:

An undisputable elegance, with some perfect proportions.

The case is 35mm " big ", which may sound a bit small, but the aperture of the dial is so important that you have the feeling to wear a 38 mm / 39 mm watch.

The thin case, related to the retro looking lugs, is playing a very coherent partition.

The Cannelures all around the case are just the cherry on the cake.

The case is a thing, but the true " soul " of this watch is its dial...

The windows of the date, the excentred hours dial, and the moonhpase indicator are located in a sublime geometrical way.

This is not an annual calendar, as the month indicator is absent, but just a double date and a moonphase.

Look at it on the following pics, you will therefore notice that the guilloché on the moonphase window is different from the guilloché on the main dial.

The Guilloché is hand made, and achieves to give the 3337 a superb elegance and class, without forgetting the characteristic heated blue hands, of course.

This watch belongs to this category which is at the boarder of Art and Horology, in the full respect of the Breguet Tradition ( sorry for the pun, but you know what I mean ).

Depending on the color of the gold ( Yellow or white ), you will have, as for the Tradition, a quite different look.

Very traditional in Yellow Gold, a bit more modern in white gold, but in both cases , an irresistible watch!

Turn it, and you will have another surprise...

The case back is plain on the White Gold, while it has a see through sapphire on the Yellow Gold, allowing to admire the nice sculptural movement:

It is said in the catalogue that on both versions, a sapphire case back is available, so it won't prohibit the WG version for the non colored gold guys...

For those who still think that 35 mm is not big enogh for their wrist, Breguet released this year a bigger " sister " of this watch, the ref 7337.

This is the same idea, but with an excentred small second, and a bigger case : 39 mm.

I was a bit deceived by the excentred small second, but my contact at the Paris Breguet Boutique told me that it was a faithful replica of a pocket watch, which also had this excentred small second, so I'm waiting to see it in the flesh to have a more precise idea.

So, here is the pic of this new version, while waiting to see it in real:

One thing is sure...I always thought about this watch, now I seriously fell in love with...

And you?

Best,

Nicolas

Another great composition from our Dear Friend Tassos! I agree that the work on the 7337 dial is awesome, but I still have to see it in the flesh, to be sure... I'm wondering if I don't prefer the remarkable geometry and balance of the 3337 dial... Just h...

I think it’s of an outstanding beauty and class, Nicolas!

That’s why I ordered an updated Breguet catalogue soon after reading your post. Best regards! Marcelo

Not sure the present catalogue is already available, my friend.

Will tell you! Best, and thanks for your input! Nicolas

To me it is the most exiting watch Breguet ever did

It has always been my favorite. The tradition is nice, but in real life I find the dial way too small. Ref 3337 is a timeless beauty and I can't wait to seeing the larger version, although I would not mind wearing the smaller version at all. Still larger ...

Funny, Geo

Back into my car, I was just saying to myself : " Damn, I should have taen pics of the Tradition and of the 3337 side by side..." In fact, these 2 are so different that they are complementary, IMO. Thanks for your input, my friend. Nicolas

has always been my favourite piece, but

after all I did not buy it because it is no perpetual calendar. I always said, this design plus perpetual calendar would be my dream-Breguet. BTW congratulation for those pics, was there any photoshopping to enhance the contrast? The guilloche looks deeper ...

Very interesting thoughts, Lutz

I understand your position, but I make a difference between a Calendar, an Annual Calendar and a Perpetual Calendar. There is a big gap between the Calendar and the perpetual calendar that the Annual Calendar tries to fill. I say " Try " because I'm not t...

Hello Nicolas, I can follow Your reserve against the anual calendar, but in the course of time it grew on me.It's a Patek speciality and they designed it to make it cheaper to service(and to buy of course) than a perpetual mechanism. You have to set it just...

Yes, Lutz, we should launch this thread!

I completely underrstand your argument, but if we push it to the limits, a simple date is even cheaper, and changing the date once a month is not a big deal, either... I know, I know... LOLOLOL Best, Nicolas

I am getting too lazy to set the perpetual calendar mechanism every time I get it out of the case, on the other hand putting it on the winder continuously I avoid for fear of too much wear and tear of the movement,so You might be right a normal calendar i...

... this ...(I will not say the name... took my lessons...) 3337!!! I would give a hand and a foot to have the 7337 with the back of 3337!!! So many types on the front side of the 7337 and such a special back on the 3337... Best Tassos

LOL, Tassos

Now, I'm very curious to see the 7337 in the flesh, with some reserves I have on the dial... Another thing I'm wondering is to check that the case is not too big with 39 mm. The 3337 seems to have such perfect proportions that I doubt on the opportunity t...

do we know if they will make it with the gold-colored disks? I always thought that added to tha allure, they reminded me of aged paper, and went well with the stark white of the dial.... A

Do not know, Aaron,

3137/3337 engraved movement will be perfect. Don't understand why Swatch did not do that. May be the engraved movements are now reserved for perpetual and above....... Hmm

It may also depend on what's under the 7337 case...

 By: amanico : July 23rd, 2009-06:41
If it is the same movement than in the 3337, it may be a bit lost on a bigger case...( 4 mm more ). So, in this case, a solid case back would be a smarter solution, don't you think? Best, Nicolas

Elegant timepiece!

A truly elegant watch...

 By: MiniCooper : July 23rd, 2009-17:59
But that is to be expected by Breguet. I do prefer the bigger version as I regard the 35mm a tad small for me Thanks for the info and I am looking forward in seeing it in metal Cheers

As soon as my contact at Breguet will call me

 By: amanico : July 23rd, 2009-22:36
I will try to make comparative pics of the 3337 and the 7337, to be able to judge between these 2... We'll see! Best, Nicolas

Breguet's are all sooooo beautiful

 By: Mostel : July 27th, 2009-18:11
however, I find these dials just too old-fashioned in the final analysis--and too purely dressy. I love them. I admire them. I find them sumptuously fine! But in the end, more of a thing I'd like to hang on a wall or admire at a museum. I do like the Aero...

Actually, Mostel, there is omething deliciously retro in these Watches

 By: amanico : July 27th, 2009-21:28
But this is really a matter of taste. VC, PP, Lange, LC can beat Breguet on the movement, but not on the Guilloché dials. It will all depend if you're sensible to the guilloché or not, IMO. Best, my friend. Nicolas
