History repeated and opportunities lost …

Hi Tassos,

I am not sure if I am answering your question, but the new 39mm Ref. 7337 is an update on the 35mm Ref. 3337 with display back (or Ref. 3330 with solid back and unengraved movement). There was a significant price premium on the engraving (~USD10K).

The 3330/7, and I believe the new 7337, houses the Breguet Cal. 502 based on the Piguet 70P with eccentric rotor, 35 jewels, 45hr PR and 18800vph.

I wish Breguet had given us the same solid back or engraved movement option on the new 7337. You may know more about prices than me, but if they have 'jacked up' the price and reduced workmanship, then that is a big dissapointment. The dial is still classical Breguet and the guilloche work is spectacular, but I enjoy the added 'spice' of that 'worked' movement through the display back and that is sadly lost.

Andrew

Ps. unfortunately with this new 7337 I am feeling a bit like the moon on this Ref. 3330 from the 1990’s. Nothing to smile about...

The model was always one of my favorites, but now since it's slightly larger it so cool. Geo

I hope that you get one soon

A very nice choice, Tassos!

I hope you pick one up sooner rather than later. I like the pensive face on the moon in the lunar display, the excellent guilloche, blue Breguet hands, and eccentric small seconds. Cheers, Daos

A beatiful typical, almost archegonal Breguet...

... with much of the famous pocket watches of A.L.-B.... And simpler than a perpetual or even annual watch.... That simplicity and elegance of this watch is very attractive... Tassos

Thumbs up from me too…

Hi Tassos, I also think this is the pick of the Basel offerings. I like the size and thinness. It looks better in this coloured gold than white gold, but that is my bias with these baroque-influenced watches. The movement finish looks rather plain for the...

I am very glad Andrew, that you like this one...

... since it seems we have the same "gout" regarding the niche that Breguet should occupy inthe classic watches... I was afraid that the back will be rather plain, while this face needs a baroque back... If you have a photo of the back, I would be obliged...

I have PM'd you ... [nt]

Thanks dear Andrew, seems I am right then to think that elaborate backs

I think it's a real shame

....that they have done away with the engraved movements on their new semi-complicated models. The watch is otherwise very pretty but the old movement's decoration was vastly superior in my view.

Wow!!! The difference of the old back (3337) and the new (7337)...

... is really stunning!!! You are right maybe they should give us (baroque people, that is) the option of the more ornate back, even in a bit more high price!!! Thanks my dear friend, your post was most informative!!! Best regards Tassos

Well, Tassos, I wonder if I don't more love the previous one

Without this eccentric second... I also wonder how this watch can be with some serious mm more. Does it affect the whole loook and concept of this watch , which was an example of balance and elegance? I really have to see one in the flesh before any judge...

Well, if you tried it, so, your wrist has the answer.

But what I remember with this 35,5mm watch is a very important aperture of the dial ,which makes it look bigger than it is. As a very discrete and elegant watch, this " Chinoise " may be a it small, it is not a problem, at least to me. But once again if y...
