I took it to the door in order to catch it with sunlight.
The 5177 is superb, "even" with the date window, which does not bother me at all.
You are right about the quircky shape of the date, that makes the date window even more likeable.

...the seconds hand always looks too thick to me. It appears the same thickness as the minutes hand. I would prefer that it were very thin.

I love the movement, there are even two interior angles just to demonstrate that the work is finished by hand. Plus the guillochéd rotor!

And the dial is understated cool but pops in the right light with the platinum ink used for the Breguet numerals. I keep coming back to it as this watch out shown several much more expensive watches when I first saw it with my girlfriend at the boutique. ...
