Can we call pre-Swatch Breguet "vintage"? What does one call 80s and 90s watches?

I've added to my small collection of pre-Swatch Breguet with a platinum piece. What I enjoy so much is how these watches tend to be understated. Even the gold bracelet is understated, for a gold bracelet and relative to that.

All very nice but the platinum piece is perfect!

When I first started collecting watches back in the '80s everyone considered watches from the '50s and '60s to be vintage, so in my opinion, today it makes sense to consider '80s and '90s watches vintage.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the platinum one!

It makes sense that as time passes, the time of vintage watches grows.

Wow! Great Watches!

Amazing trio. Maybe the term "Classic" could be used here. Although, couldn't do these superb watches any justice. Wear in the best of health. Cheers. Harvey

Thanks, Harvey! [nt]

That's a good rule of thumb!

Thanks!

I call 1990s vintage, but "vintage" is an advancing front that envelops a new group of watches each year.

20+ years is a good yardstick that you can apply across the board. There's also a sense that many watches from the 1990s exhibit features, size, materials, and styles that have disappeared, become uncommon, or become unfashionable today. Best, Tim

That's a good way to put it! [nt]
