Breguet Boutique Beverly Hills preview of the Baselworld 2014 Novelties: Part 1

Aug 02, 2014,23:41 PM

The PuristSPro Moderator Team recently joined Breguet and several VIP guests to preview the latest novelties unveiled at Baselworld 2014.  A reception was held at the Breguet Boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California.

I still remember the renovation last year when Breguet spent over 2 months remodeling the boutique and debuting the new Breguet retail design concept.  The boutique feels more spacious and lighter than before.  And we were warmly welcomed by the Breguet Boutique staff when we entered the front doors.

On display in the front area of the boutique were the Breguet Type XXII flyback chronograph watches featuring the Breguet automatic movement caliber 589f 10hz high frequency silicon escapement.  New for 2014 is the full 18 carat rose gold model with a 44mm case and matching rose gold bracelet.  The brown dial with looks beautiful with the rose gold and pairs nicely with the red accents on the central chronograph hands.  The hour, minutes and subdial chronograph hands are luminous and easy to read.  Two other models are available and on display was the stainless steel on a strap, and another 18 carat rose gold case paired with a strap.

As part of the Breguet Classique Collection, two new models are available for ladies in a 33.5mm diameter case.  The bezels and lugs are set with 88 brilliant cut diamonds (approximate .606ct total weight) that add a really elegant touch.  The slightly larger size gives these watches a contemporary look for women.  Two versions are available, a 18 carat white gold and a 18 carat pink gold both on a leather strap.  The dials are 18 carat gold, silvered and engine turned giving them the classic Breguet style.  This new model also features a self winding movement the Breguet caliber 591A with silicon escapement and balance spring.

Towards the rear of the boutique are some of the new Breguet complications including the 3797BR perpetual calendar tourbillon and the 5377PT extra-thin tourbillon.

More Breguet complications including the 5327BA perpetual calendar with moon phase, and the 5717BR Hora Mundi.  The 5717BR is interesting because the movement can memorize two separate time zone settings.  Using the push button at the 8 o'clock position the watch can toggle between the two time zones.  Very useful for frequent travelers.

A Breguet Classique manual chronograph that has a distinctive 30 minute chronograph subdial at the 3 o'clock position and a semi circle subdial at the 9 o'clock position representing the running seconds.

Another new model for 2014 is the 8968BR for women.  Named the Reine de Naples Princesse, the watch is elegant like all Breguets, but has a larger diameter case and more casual look that seems to be intended to be worn daily.  The 43 x 34.95mm oval dial has a curved case and is available in different variations with silvered and anthracite-colored engine turned dials.  The lugs on the bottom of the watch is set with 3 rows of brillant cut diamonds.  I think this is a great addition to the Reine de Naples line.

There were a few of the original Reine de Naples collection like the 18 carat white gold 8918BB with a mother of pearl dial and diamond bezel.  Along with this is the stunning gem set 8928BB with approximately 139 diamonds weighing 1.32 carats on the bezel, caseband and lugs.  Another 211 diamonds weighing approx .63 carats sparkles on the dial.

My two favorite watches for 2014 are the new Breguet 3797BR perpetual calendar with tourbillon and the 5377PT extra-thin tourbillon.  I have a lot more close up pictures which I'll show in a separate post.  But here's a picture of the two together.

While I was ogling over the 3797BR, my fellow Moderator Anthony Tsai was taking a closer look at his favorite Breguet, the 7047BR Tradition tourbillon with the fussee and chain transmission.  The case is 41mm in diameter but 15.95mm in thickness.  I think this looks great on Anthony's wrist.  But for me, the 3797BR perpetual calendar tourbillon is absolutely beautiful.  I love the opaque sapphire disc that has Roman hour markers for the hour chapter ring at the 12 o'clock position.  And the skeletonized work on the tourbillon is just amazing to see in person.  Again, I have more closeup shots of these watches and will post pictures in a separate post for each watch.

Next up in part 2 are several more Breguet watch pictures taken by Anthony Tsai and event pics from fellow PuristS ATM.

Regards,
ED-209

Here are several excellent pictures taken by Anthony Tsai. Let's start with a wrist shot of my favorite Breguet shown at the event. It's the new 3797BR perpetual calendar tourbillon in 18 carat rose gold. The case measures 41mm in diameter and is 11.60mm ...

Love the new tourbillons!
