90% of the people that buy expensive watches are just not educated enough
And they keep on buying the usual stuff.
And to be honest, probably the same watches we bought when we started falling in love with watches.
Many of us probably bought a Rolex, Cartier, Breitling etc as a first rather expensive watch and only later we wanted to know more and started reading about watches.
After knowing more you will discover other brands and while we still love more common watches we do buy others too.
But unfortunately 90% sticks with 1 or 2 watches and it will rarely by a Breguet that will be bought as a second watch
On the other hand, as said ... If you like the Breguet Tradition style and you know what you get for the price (secondhand) it's a no brainer.

The watch is great, but some people are put off by the case. Breguet could improve sales a lot by modernizing their case design

This is true. Compare the Romain Gauthier Logical One to the Breguet Tradition chain-and-fusée 7047… the Logical One is less expensive but more elegantly finished and has a stronger design language. This is why I have my heart set on one of those, though ...
There are plenty used
Check moda. There have been ~5+ sold this year in there so far.
It's the lugs for me. Totally subjective, I just can't get used to them.
I could get over the other things, it really is just the straight lug profile that kills it for me. I've tried on lots of breguets, they always look better to my eye in thee case than in my wrist.

They aren't super comfy. They don't bug me a ton but the watch definitely doesn't hug you like some others do.

I agree...the Traditions are amazing pieces and the 7097 is my favorite watch to wear right now.
