Cynism...?

Friends,

To me, like to many others, the Breguet Caliber 777Q was mostly appealing as one of the last "basic" movement with interior angles. See the first pic of cal 777Q, which is old.

However, I have just looked at the film available on Breguet website and it seems that, in the current version of the 777Q, the interior angles are gone !

I find this so sad. They really don't care at all about the very details that were the core and the heart of watchmaking.

It's a shame.

Nowadays the only brands which offer interior angles consistently are the independents. Big brands do this because they know that most people are not aware of their importance.

Oh i saw it too

Wow, on the metal plate surrounding the balance spring, are rough edges on the 2nd pic. Is that what you saw?

Profit is all that matters

CNCs work better with no inner angles 🙊🙉🙈

A pity.

It is sad, and sadly another brand does the same thing.

It is disheartening when brands seek profits over 'proper' artistic expression.

The interior angles are likely still there and this is another case of tears and tantrums over poor photography.

I bought a 5177bb with blue enamel dial last year and the angles are intact. This movement has been made since early 2000s, they are not changing the production process now. Here's another example of crying over nothing: www.watchprosite.com

Hi, If you are right this is good news !

Hi, I'm almost 100% certainly correct.

I feel like you wasted everyone's time and attention with this. Have a look at an actual watch next time, visit a boutique.

You might consider not being rude and arrogant. If Breguet posts incorrect pics on their own official website this 100% stupid. There is NO DOUBT the inner angles are NOT present on their film. If official releases from the brand cannot be trusted... If q...

See one in person and examine it well.

If you find it completely lacking in those two internal angles, on close inspection with a loupe, then I'll happily apologize. Otherwise, I'll accept yours. Either way, my recently purchased 5177bb has them...

Relax

Easy man. Just because your 5177 from last year has interior angles does not mean that Breguet didn't recently change their production to not include them. That's not poor photography because there is plenty of detail and it clearly shows rounded off inte...

Anglage also looks flat rather than slightly rounded in the new version. Entirely machined or just differences in the photography?

It really is quickly becoming true that "they don't make them like they used to." Little changes like this annoy me to no end since there's no easy way for customers to know what exactly they are getting without inspecting the exact example of the watch p...

I don’t know about this particular situation,

but watch companies figured out long ago that spending money on marketing and advertising as opposed to nicer products (whatever that means to you) is a better ROI.

Not that old

Hi, In this particular case, the movement is not old and even exhibits some interesting "modern" features. I find it excellent that a 20 years old movement is considered as quite new and that movements are not changed every 5 years. Don't you agree ?

Prices are rising and cost savings are being made wherever possible.

This is not a nice development, as we have already discussed vigorously in other brand forums. You can spend a lot of money today and still not be sure that you get high quality in return. Nowadays you really have to be very careful as a buyer. 😐 Best Tho...

Just the same pictures, no further proof. Have you gone to a boutique to confirm yourself, or not?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : August 26th, 2022-17:05
Will be interested to hear if you have. I've written my local boutique to ask.

Will take a look at a 5177 when I stop by my AD.

My own 777 is in a Marine 5177 which uses the 777A which doesn’t include the interior angles.

Yes, and that in itself would have made a story.

Glad to hear you will look at new models directly!
