Vintage Dials
I stumbled across a couple of vintage Blancpain dials for sale, what caught my eye was that they came in
the box stamped by the dial maker.
A Bathyscape dial.
A quick search revealed some scant information on "Kohli & Cie"
"Factory dials founded in 1885 by Augustus in Tramelan Kohli. A son décès, en 1914, l'entreprise est reprise par sa veuve, puis par ses deux fils au début des années 1920. At his death in 1914, the company was taken over by his widow and son by his two early 1920. Fernand Kohli, né en 1889, reprend seul l'affaire en 1930. Fernand Kohli, born in 1889, again only the case in 1930. Maire radical de Tramelan-dessous de 1938 à 1948 et engagé dans de nombreuses sociétés du village, il apparaît comme un personnage incontournable de la vie tramelote de l'entre-deux-guerres. Mayor radical Tramelan below 1938 to 1948 and engaged in many societies of the village, it appears as a key figure in the life of the tramelote between the wars. Il est notamment membre du conseil d'administration des Chemins de fer du Jura. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Railways of the Jura. "

The next one was more interesting. A Milspec dial.
I couldn't find out much about "Lemrich & Cie", except that they supplied dials for several of the Sixties Rolex Submariners.
Anyone have any more info about either company and any other brands they might have supplied for, any reason to doubt their authenticity?

Hi Ubik, there are several dials in the bay these days, but I did not see the milspec I dials there. Do you hve a contact where to buy one ? I would like to replace mine, hands as well if I could get NOS for reasonable money. best Stephan

It's interesting that Lemrich also made dials for the Sub 5512 and 5513. We have a large jigsaw with many missing pieces. Are Blancpain going to do anything with the information they have gathered from the exhibition?
I know that some books are on to be published about the FF.
But I don't know if Blancpain will do a book from their side, or if they will collaborate to one or two of these books. In my opinion, and to be clear, it is just a guess, I don't see Blancpain not trying to use all the informations they gathered with the...

About the movement, there is probably no special interest for the dialmaker;
About the Radium or Tritium indexes on these milspec dials, it is a very interesting debate, which does not only concern Blancpain, but also Rolex and certainly some other brands. We know that the international rules changed in '61 if I remember it correc...
