How is that look achieved...sandblasting or some such technique?...

...would be nice to see a case this color.

Thanks...it looks smooth but not polished...

...I think the matte look would be a winner : )

Cool watch

I really do not want to piss on your fireworks but this is a conundrum: everyone knows how polluting mining gold is, so combining on the same part the writing 'ocean commitment' and 'gold' is an oxymoron to me...

Not my fireworks...

...I am not a fan of any writing on watches except maybe a logo. I especially abhor any luxury product that proclaims their 'goodness.' It's very self-serving and means nothing to me. In fact, it will usually sway me toward NOT purchasing the product.

Well, there is a lot of hypocrisy of course.

I bought the watch because of the way it looks. I don't care if it says ocean commitment or not. Now the following also happens to be true : For every watch sold, Blancpain donates €1,000 to the Ocean Commitment program, totaling an impressive €250,000 fo...

This was nothing against you personally

I did not want to create any offense I just see more and more companies green washing their actions, and this example shocked me somewhat. But you are free to buy what you want based on your wishes, means and taste. As I said, the watch is cool, no doubt ...

No offense taken!

I understand your point about "green washing". Let me not start on Chopard's fair mined gold ...

Interesting, I thought Chopard could be legitimate

There is also gold from companies which find gold without destroy nature. I saw on TV Australian gold searchers who find gold in the out back. They dig out by hands.

Yes

There are good gold search methods. There are bad gold search methods. There are watch brands which take only gold from the good ones. I think Blancpain is sustainable. But it is not bad to write about bad mining, but at the other hand he must write also ...

I love the FF movement design and caseback

The rotor if left in gold would look out of place for me in a dive watch.

Blancpain and my study

 By: Weems@8 : November 17th, 2020-15:08
Cool back. I am studying Blancpain. Fifty Fathoms, a wish, and it must be in my collection. A Villeret, if i find a topper, i buy it. Bathyscaphe. The submariner. Ever heard of submersible? These vessels inspired the watchmakers when it comes to dive watc...

Blancpain is worth exploring

Their line-up and historic references are varied and attractive. I owned a simple 2100 for some time and the quality was awesome!

Never knew the rotor was made of gold

It says so on it! :)

But yes, not an obvious detail.
