The Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel platinum

After a first short glimpse a few days ago, here’s my full report with the results of my photo session with this recently introduced timepiece.

Last year Blancpain introduced the Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel in stainless steel with white dial and rose gold with opaline dial, now there’s a mesmerizing version in platinum with a stunning blue dial.

Let’s quickly recap on the previous two versions of this 40mm timepiece to put the new one into visual perspective:

With the platinum Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel Blancpain has chosen a distribution we know from some Grande Décoration pieces: it is only available in Blancpain Boutiques and it’s limited to 88 pieces.

The watch features a sapphire case back, showcasing calibre 5954, an automatic movement of 351 parts with a robust 72-hour power reserve, a silicon hairspring and a rotor in typical Villeret decoration.

It also features the „secured movement“ protection, meaning that the risks to damage the calendar mechanism when trying to adjust the watch at the wrong time ( usually between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.) are eliminated.

The well known Villeret case is perfectly rounded, has a diameter of 40mm and a height of 11,1mm, and of course you also find the patented under-lug-correctors.

We now get very close to the magnificent dial, which changes its appearance quite significantly depending on light conditions. Since I had my photo session on a day with absolutely no sunlight, I unfortunately cannot provide that view on it - I hope the following photos give you a solid impression nonetheless.

I am personally convinced that Blancpain dials are hard to beat when it comes to depth and detail execution. The Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel platinum is certainly not an exception. Due to the very subtle sunburst finish and the beautiful radial sub-dials it offers plenty of detail and a very lively character.

After all those close ups here are some photos providing a wider angle to get an overall impression of the watch

If you have the chance to visit a Blancpain Boutique, I suggest you do that and get up close and personal with this exceptional timepiece. The Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel is a true signature timepiece, embodying all the virtues Blancpain is well known for.

I hope you enjoyed the report and the photos!

Cheers
Henrik

thanks for sharing those shots. Quick technical question, why is the leap year indicator doubled, i.e. L,1,2,3 and again L,1,2,3? Does it serve any function? Thanks, CC

It’s a configuration they use since a few years...

... I will try to find out the rationale behind it. Cheers Henrik

What’s your opinion? Which one would you choose? Best, Thomas

Price difference aside I would probably go for...

... the platinum version. Not only I love blue dials, my primary reason here would be the heft of the platinum case just adding another dimension to the haptic sensation. On the other hand the opaline dial of the RG is truly beautiful, and the heat blued ...
