There are no rules and no mistakes imo.
For myself it would depend on the occasion, the attire, and the activity. Whatever you prefer is good. The way you're wearing it now, with jeans and casual shirt, looks perfect.

You are lucky to have a wrist big enough to support it. It's really fantastic. As for the strap versus bracelet, my advice would be to get both!
strap. Keeps it compact as the lug to lug is small on a strap.
on the steel bracelet it will become vertically longer by quite a bit. But still it would look good and make the bezel pop out lots more Tough one. Maybe both is the best
