I have in my collection a TR900 identical to the one that will go on sale.
During my research on the FF, I had the opportunity to meet several former Blancpain watchmakers at the end of 1990 and early 2000. During our various discussions I had confirmation that after the failure of the TR900, the Navy asked a few months later to test another series with some improvements. Indeed, during the tests, little problems appeared:
1/The small diameter crown, (divers didn't trust him)
2/ The bezel with its stall (often lost during exercises) see picture.
3/ The very fragile insert often broke at indexes 1,2,2,4,5,5,7,8,8,10,11.
The new series has corrected these small defects. A new case with a bi/o'ring crown, smooth bezel and thicker, more solid resin insert. The anti-magnetic supplies of the first TR900s being exhausted, they mounted the movements used for the AM military milspec and other US Navy milspecs with second stop. The balance bridges are marked with the US import code FOG.
A very small series has been planned for tests by the navy. Without positive feedback from the USA, the production of these watches is definitively abandoned.
These watches are very rare, this case will also be used for a few milspec 2. Apart from mine, Blancpain has one, presented at the exhibition in New York (https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/vintage-tornek-rayville-diving-in-depth) and two or three posted on instagram.
