I spent my first day with the new to me Blancpain Villeret Quantieme Complet 8 Jours Platinum looking at it from any angle and also taking a first series of photos - much to the annoyance of my beloved wife and also our dog 😗
So let me share more information and photos of the watch with you. This timepiece was introduced in 2012 as a limited series of 75 pieces in platinum. It is powered by an eight day calibre on the basis of cal 1315, enhanced with a titanium balance with gold micrometric screws for fine adjustment. The movement is hand finished and it features the Villeret typical rotor.
The watch usually comes on a black crocodile strap on platinum deployant. Now, with the deep black enamel dial, any other shade of black does not really work imho. Therefore I decided to quickly change to the colorful ostrich strap, providing not only more contrast but also a more casual appearance.
Simply beautiful under indirect light, it almost explodes against direct sunlight. The texture invites a second, third and fourth look, it captures the attention, and that’s a virtue of a fine timepiece, isn’t it?
The double stepped bezel is rather thin on this 42mm case, as is the rehaut. This offers space for a lot of dial, and the deep black Grand Feu enamel does certainly not disappoint!
Of course there is considerable heft to the platinum case, but in a very comfortable way. The watch sits well on the wrist, the platinum deployant provides enough of a balance. Here is a series of wristshots:
Here are two additional shots, hope you enjoy!
