Blancpain TR 900 / Fifty Fathoms Bronze Milspec US NAVY. The Dream Pair.

Sep 15, 2022,08:37 AM

The TR 900 is famous. It is a legend, an icon, and one of the most sought after vintage Fifty Fathoms. Rare it is, clearly. But compared to the Bronze Milspec US NAVY which was only a prototype, there is no comparison.

When I think that I couldn't get this US NAVY when I was offered it... It is one of my biggest regrets.

Best,

Nicolas

It’s interesting they would consider making this in bronze, no?

I mean it’s supposed to be a practical, military watch. Would a bronze case offer any benefit to the military purchasing eg cost savings? And i guess it didn’t go to production since you mention this is a prototype.

Hello Armis: probably military were looking for…

… a safer case material for divers working with magnetic mines and experimented with a bronze case. By some reason they decided it was not practical or too expensive and remained with classic steel cases. Just my feelings. May be Nicolas can confirm this....

I could bet on that.
