Blancpain Bathyscaphe – a simple sport swatch

Mar 22, 2021,04:20 AM

I’m a big fan of the modern Bathyscaphe case.  When the design is simple yet thoughtful -- it really shows.   The traits carry over from the 1950s original; the combination of beautifully beveled/non maxi lugs, big crown, moderate size and absence of crown guards.

The case size ~38mm (a slight up size from the original) and compact height ~10mm allows it to wear comfortably.  More like a great daily wearer than a true tool watch.

Any other sports watches that also fit the bill of “elegant” (not too thick) + “sporty” (good water resistance) that you like?

Thanks for reading!

PS.  It i looks good on a bracelet as well!

If I’m allowed to be picky, I would add a domed sapphire over the dial 😊

You’ve got yourself a great watch my friend. Abd its far from simple. For instance did you know that the shiny metal rings around the indices on the dial are made from solid gold? Personally I own the chronograph version. I love it and the chronograph com...

Glad you’re a Bathyscaphe fan!

I feel it doesn’t get enough of a spotlight outside these forums. Simple maybe wasn’t the right word to be used. Maybe elegant is more appropriate? Yes, the Vacheron is a great example! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Enjoy your chrono in good heal...

Thanks! You are certainly one of the strap masters on the forum.
