While Blancpain is teasing us with a new Fifty Fathoms to come, what do you think we'll have...

 By: amanico : March 13th, 2021-14:17
The only hint we have is the typical graduated bezel, which corresponds to : - The Barakuda: The civilian Milspec: Or the No Rad, Bund or not: The other hint is that, apparently, they opted for the big lugs. So it won't be a Batyscaphe case, which saddens...

Let's see

That would be nice if they make a no date.

Bathyscape case would be perfect

Look,size and comfort

Of course! 😀

Agree the bathyscaphe lugs are more elegant (and beveled). Maybe they really wanted a 40mm case size for the Milspec? I think the bathyscaphe comes as 43 , 38mm. Not sure if they have something in between.

Time to make it!

+++1.

For me too.

 By: amanico : March 13th, 2021-23:37

A quoi???

 By: amanico : March 15th, 2021-00:25

I would like it if it was a no radiation

 By: MiguelFlash : March 13th, 2021-15:03
And I agree with you Nico, whatever it is I wish they used the Bathyscaphe case.

40max

Original model from 1953 was around 42MM, in 1972, the Royal Oak was 39MM, and that was considered "jumbo,"

 By: K-Lo : March 13th, 2021-17:38
I don't mind the 40MM Fifties, I think 42MM may be a good size, since the original was around 42MM. Arguably, that was almost 70 years ago, it could grow a little, in my opinion. But that's only my opinion....

41mm.

 By: amanico : March 13th, 2021-23:25

Perfect, personally even better than 42

 By: Gelato Monster : March 14th, 2021-06:17
Stretch to max modern😁👍👍

I am happy 40,40,5,41, 41.5

 By: Gelato Monster : March 14th, 2021-21:39
Perhaps 40 40.5 would be more true, but 41.5 would be more modern thus attractive to many.

I think it will be 40mm polished no rad with date

 By: dte2 : March 13th, 2021-16:13
Then a year later hodinkee will collaborate and make a brushed with no date

Exactly!

Good question!

 By: amanico : March 13th, 2021-23:29

Naaaaaaah!

 By: amanico : March 13th, 2021-23:29

lol

 By: cholack : March 14th, 2021-11:58

Which is very good!

Great pics Nicolas -- reminders of the charms of vintage

I've always liked the FF but the modern ones never quite did it for me -- beautiful in their way but (like Rolex) a little blingy and too large for my 6.8" wrist. The Hodinkee was nice but quite expensive for a simple, non-hacking watch. Would love to see...

Well, there’s a clear distinction between a tribute piece and a re-edition...

 By: shortys home : March 14th, 2021-00:29
... with the Air Command AC01 being very close to being a re-edition and the 40mm FF models being more a tribute. Personally I like the blend of the modern luxurious 40mm case and bezel with elements of iconic heritage elements like the moisture indicator...

Well, my friend, the right thing is something different...

 By: shortys home : March 14th, 2021-04:37
... when doing a re-edition I‘m with you, when doing a tribute piece I actually welcome the deviation from the inspiration watch. To me the sin of the Hodinkee MIL-SPEC are the too long/wide hands 😉 Love the passionate debate! Cheers Henrik

I think your deductions are likely correct.

 By: kkochheiser : March 13th, 2021-18:08
I’d wish for a brushed case but as it is limited I'm unlikely to make up my mind in time to have a chance to get one. Heck, I’ll probably never even see one! Kent

Good point...

 By: kkochheiser : March 14th, 2021-19:53
My AD down here in Scottsdale (just arrived!) had an Air Command for sale last time I was there. So there's indeed hope! Kent

Its out...: NO RAD with date.
