Coloured gold doesn't really fit for a tool watch. Right?

 By: MTR : April 9th, 2021-10:49
At least that seems to be the common opinion. However, lately I have felt more and more interested in wearing a sports watch in RG. Since I already own two Panerais and still not a Blancpain (although I have been playing with the thought for a long time n...

Hahahahahaha!

The "golden rule" - how fitting in this context, my friend. And, yes, you are so right. I never base my purchase decisions on the personal taste of others (except their rich knowledge and personal experiences which can be very helpful). But I would be ver...

And I can live with the date here very well.

No idea why. Sometimes it works like .... with some AP RO. šŸ™ƒ Hehehehe

I am very, very close to

Of course I will!

I agree go with what you LOVE, life is short

 By: Kmboxers : April 9th, 2021-11:21
As the owner of a FF in rose gold (different model to these two) I have to say I do love it and there definitely is a time and place for it. It is a big piece but if like me you have a bigger wrist this works well. I really like the blue but depends on yo...

My wrist is 16,5 to 17 cm.

 By: MTR : April 9th, 2021-13:49
But I donā€™t care since I wear 47mm Panerais with joy and pride without any problems. Do you have a wristshot from yours? Cheers Thomas

These iterations of the FF are, imho, much more elegant than your average 'tool' watch...

...but I've always considered Blancpain the 'classy' tool watch if that makes sense : )

I am not so shure as far as it comes to

BP. Here also the ā€œtool watchesā€ have a touch of haute horlogerie. PR 120 hours, three series coupled barrels housing high-performance springs, silicon balance spring, the finishing of the bezel and the case and the dial etc etc.

I feel exactly the same!

 By: MTR : April 9th, 2021-13:55
Do you know if both variants have the same case? Best Thomas

Not sure, maybe only the blue is brushed?

 By: Fastwong : April 9th, 2021-18:13
I haven't kept up with the line so not sure if both are brushed or if the black is high polish but BP does some really nice case finishing, makes the brushing on a Rolex look like it was done with a grill scraper. I'm not into pm watches (too clumsy) but ...

ā€žLike done with a grill scraperā€œ.... LOOOLLLL

 By: MTR : April 10th, 2021-00:09
Good one. Glowing like bronze? Best Thomas

May I ask why do you think

 By: MTR : April 9th, 2021-13:57
itā€™s the best case material? I am very interested in your opinion. Best Thomas

I find the esthetic very fitting

By: COUNT DE MONET : April 10th, 2021-05:23
Rose gold looks vintage per sĆ© and a rose gold diving watch reminds me of antique diving gear. It gives the watch a more timeless look and technical touch as well, as cooper was used in the 19th century in engineering a lot. ...

Very well said.

 By: MTR : April 11th, 2021-02:20
And definitely interesting thoughts. Thanks a lot. I am curious how red gold will react for example with seawater. Perhaps I will have the chance to verify it by myself in summer. šŸ˜Š Cheers Thomas

I adore the blue dialed version

 By: DouglasM : April 9th, 2021-13:42
BP actually borrowed its sister brand Omegaā€™s lead, and put a polished ceramic dial on that one. Itā€™s stunning in person, especially with the brushed Sedna gold. Iā€™m not in the market for another BP yet, but Iā€™d be more than thrilled to have the rose gold...

Is the case of the BP with blue ceramic dial

 By: MTR : April 9th, 2021-23:50
brushed Sedna Gold or do you refer to the Omega case?

Aaaah. Thanks.

 By: MTR : April 10th, 2021-00:13

I do agree that I find a bit of a personality conflict with gold tool watches in general.

 By: jleno : April 9th, 2021-15:40
In that category, I would probably only consider something from Rolex like a gold submariner. Now that being said, I think those Fifty Fathoms look great in gold, especially the black version! It would be a perfect watch to rock on a yacht in Monaco/Miami...

For me the RG case of the FF

 By: MTR : April 10th, 2021-02:39
with itā€˜s shape and special colour tone looks less blingy than a full gold Rolex. But dove of them ha have something special which attracts me a lot. For example: Green dial. And Iā€™m definitely not a Daytona fan. Cheers Thomas ...

IMHO RG is guarantee for gorgeous.

 By: Gelato Monster : April 9th, 2021-16:12
If I may share my reasoning, YG is perfect for classic vintage look and patinated. YG is also the more versatile between the two in terms of fashion match. RG is better for avant-garde and ultra-chic. Therefore YG is more suitable for classic warm looking...

Thank you for your very interesting view, GM!

 By: MTR : April 10th, 2021-00:19
As far as it comes to YG I'm more attracted to RG (I think it suits my skin tone better). And yes, I find somehow the whole design of the FF works excellent with RG (also with the Bathyscaphe!!).

I also prefer RG šŸ„‚

No problem. Deal!

 By: MTR : April 10th, 2021-03:34
Just send me your Mokarran. For now I can unfortunately only send you pictures and a BP catalog in return. I hope this is okay for you? šŸ™ƒ

Yep!! I am so happy!!

 By: MTR : April 10th, 2021-03:43
I will pack the catalog nicely and make it ready for dispatch now. As soon as I have received your Mokarran, I will send you the catalog. You can trust me. I'll be sure to send the catalog away.

Yes please.

Your Mokarran and a nice catalogue please. LOL

Thatā€™s also my impression.

 By: MTR : April 9th, 2021-23:56
Perhaps the black dial is more versatile (for example with a brown leather strap). But the blue ceramic dial is so ... special and brings the summer feeling on the wrist.

The blue ceramic dial FF has to be seen in the metal...

Wow!!

These pictures are ... breathtaking. Sigh... I can't wait to see them in person, especially the blue model. Is the variant with black dial and brushed case an older model? I didnā€™t find it on the official website. Cheers Thomas

And is the Bayhyscaphe the

the black dial version with brushed case? I didnā€™t see anything on the official website? Or is this the brushed version? There is no description of this on the website. Cheers Thomas

Ok. Letā€˜s see what my AD can show me.

I will report. šŸ˜Š

Hmmmm, this case!

I donā€™t exactly know why

 By: MTR : April 11th, 2021-04:01
but the case of the ā€žclassicā€œ FF attracts me more than the Bathyscaphe case. At least from the pics I have seen. I have never tried a Bathyscaphe on my wrist so far. I will have to see and feel it in the flesh.

Double wow! The Blue....

I am at 99% making the deal. I have just to feel it on my wrist and see it live after this .... lockdown.

This may surprise...

 By: Mostel : April 11th, 2021-17:33
but I PREFER Blancpain (generally, but not always) is RG because their RG is MATTE, and CRAZY beautiful. Shrug. It's silly to take the sport aspect of any watch too seriously as a collector because we know it will never be used as such and likely babied.....

Very well said!

Yes, I tend to "baby" my watches, a little bit, but not too much. A watch finally is a watch is a tool is a constant companion, and that ideally in ALL situations and circumstances in the most reliable way possible. It has to be worn and USED . And a divi...

I will tell you a little secret: For a moment I was tempted to have a look at the FF Tourbillon 8 Jours. Shame on me. But I find that the combination of a diver's watch and a tourbillon is so ... insane that it's interesting again. LOLLLL I had a long tal...
