BaselWorld! 2019– Part 1: Rolex
In Zurich for business and I detoured over to Basel to see the show. I almost skipped it because I was somewhat disappointed in the novelties this year, but it is always fun to go and I am happy I did.
Here is a sampling of some of what I saw along with my thoughts/comments. 
Probably will be very controversial, but really stunning in the metal. Nothing else like it, that’s for sure. 
My 6238 pre-Daytona is along for the trip and making its return to Switzerland 53 years after its manufacture!

Rolex seems to be everyone’s first stop (even though you can’t actually but most of their watches. Lol
Probably Rolex’s star this year. Yachtmaster 42mm in white gold
Big controversy around this but I thought it actually looked great with its gilt details. A statement watch for sure and I wonder if all gold will be coming. 
I personally love the white gold GMT with blue dial— A watch I hear several refer to as the “Superman”—a fitting name for sure. 
The Rolex jeweled creations were pure fire and it seems to be a big emphasis of the collection now.
