Well let's see how this goes..

Sep 27, 2024,15:16 PM

As Cpt posted a little while ago. Land Rover just released an Octa version of the Defender with a further limited run of the Edition One that makes it a little more special.  I knew my dealership was getting 3 total Octas with only one Edition One. I was notified that the Edition One is mine if I want it.  My wife's Range Rover is in the dealership as it practically left her on the side of the road with cracked coolant lines and CV boots.  We looked at other cars for her as we were so angry that we had to pay an $11k repair bill as warranty just expired and her car only had 42k miles on it.  But at the end of the day she just kept coming back to Range Rover.  So she ordered the 7 seater LWB that should be here in January and I believe the Edition One should be here in February/ March. Still not sure I'll pick up the Edition One as I really need to see it in person but how it is, I spec'd it identical to the one in the video. What are your guys take? I have been a loyal customer for about 12 years and have never had a Land Rover issue but this left a sour taste in my mouth. Although there are few SUVs that esthetically look as good as Range Rover/Land Rover IMO and the ride is always so nice.

Porsche Cayenne or Merc G Class or Lexus SUVs All been great for my family

I tried with my wife, tried the Lexus, BMW and Merc.

We looked at the large LX 7 seater but she said the interior felt cheap and plasticky. Porsche we were never drawn to their SUVs but love their 911s. And BMW has a wonderful engine but the body style of the X7 M is Ok but not special. The G Wagon we love ...

How about the Ineos Grenadier?

I see them all over town. BMW drivetrain with body on frame construction. The only complaint seems to be the vague steering feel, but that can be corrected with aftermarket parts. ...

I hear you, there is one more you can try

We had a XC 90 Volvo for 8 years, also a 7 seater, was a great family car If you want to floss the Bentley Bentayga's are a great value right now, with 3 rows of seating and being a VW product. Source: Google Images ...

we probably paid as much as the value of our family LR in repairs over the last years

terrible experience and they are not fixing it as many issues appear after warranty so they can wash their hands from it. They have massive class action suits ongoing in the US. Shameful quality management for the last 20 years our family car was not my c...

I'll have to research the Class action suits.

When her car was smoking on the side of the road I was like are you effing kidding me! Not to mention depreciation on these cars is horrible. I think our car depreciated like 70% in 4 years and it was there RR LWB autobiography which is right below the SV...

in the UK and in the US many actions ongoing/settled - infotainment system - turbo on the diesel engines (all the people I know have had the same scary engine blowup at c. 75k km) - particulate filters etc.

Since you asked….

LRs are status symbols plain and simple. Ralf Schumacher said “the Toyota Land Cruiser is the finest SUV in the world”….I would tend to agree…long after the LR breaks down and leaves you stranded my Toyota Tundra will be going strong… ...

I don't think anyone denies the truth in both your statements..

I love Toyota had a Tundra TRD Pro truck that I drove quite often but my wife was tired of how many cars we had so that one hit the chopping block. Had 24k miles on it 2 years old and I sold it for $3k less than what I paid for it.

I agree 1000%. But JP is looking more at luxury SUVs.

By: MichaelC : September 27th, 2024-16:15
For a real "trucky" SUV, Toyota remains the best option. We owned an LR3 years ago. Driving from my parent's on Christmas Eve, the truck died at a traffic light 2 miles from our home. Snowing out, around 11pm. Figured I would walk and grab my other car to...

but I draw the line when they cause more stress than happiness…🤷🏻‍♂️

A great point, Myles. Sometimes things just don't work out.

Plenty of guys on these forums have a problem with a particular brand and then will not buy them again (me and Montblanc is a perfect example). But it can also be a car, truck, or really any other good.

That’s normal for English vehicles :-)

I was talking to the President of Lotus Cars USA and he said “the only Lemon Law buyback we had on the M100 (my car) was a window seal leak that drove a guy crazy!” I solved that problem by keeping the top down! (after 30 years it’s now worn and torn) ...

Cadillac Escalade V series. 682HP supercharged V8.

A little bigger, but it will not leave you on the side of the road! And a 6 year 70k powertrain warranty. Piece of mind.

Not sure why you would buy another after that experience

My neighbor bought a brand new D90, didn’t even have it one year and it literally stalled / failed in the middle of a busy intersection endangering him and his family. He was lucky to avoid injury. He fought for months with the dealer and finally they gav...

Fit and finish, size, driving position. All spot on. The mechanical and electrical gremlins such, but at the end of the day they are the best. I had a series 2 disco, new 2017 rr and a 2021 disco (wanted the 3rd row before the longer defender came out). I...

I'm really not happy to read that you suffered an $11K repair bill on a 5 year old car... That makes me upset! Wished your wife could find another vehicle that met her needs outside of the Land Rover brand - but I do realize there aren't a lot of great al...

Yea that's the exact build I went for. the Faroe green with matte protective film, green interior and roof rack and the upgraded tires on the 20 inch wheels.

I admit that a large reason that I would be purchasing the vehicle is because a) it looks much more aggressive and has more HP and Torque b) It will be really rare and I will probably only see one or two other ones in our state as each dealership is getti...

Looks aren’t my core business when comes to cars. Rock solid tech and customer friendly car dealers are my choice. Lexus here get my credits.

I have the Carpathian

The short 90. I love it, no issues yet, but I’m only two months in. The gearing is a little off, the full thrust out of 1st at a stop light is too punchy for a car that size, and also when parking. I live in Berlin where streets are narrow, parking spaces...

And where they are still being built. A bit of an anachronism, the G production line not having modernized in concept for over 40 years - possibly the last batch production in the automotive industry (apart from some tiny niche products) 😁

I am happy to have gotten one of the last pre-restyle deliveries, as I much prefer Series I aesthetically. The interior is a combination of seashell and black.

I concur with all your points.

Thanks for mentioning the Grecale which is often overlooked if you’re into spirited driving but need the practicality of an SUV while looking to keep things simple i.e. ICE only, no huge tires or huge engine. It’s remarkably tossable and the engine makes ...

Exactly my thought process when choosing Grecale Trofeo

By: jack johnson : September 29th, 2024-05:32
ICE only was a huge plus for me after having issues with the mild hybrid battery on the GLS. Also, I think that Grecale Teofeo is a smart and cost-effective way to get the Nettuno engine (other ways to get it: MC20 and GT are way more expensive). And as y...

I have a hard time holding back from taking off at full throttle every time so as to get the wet fart on the 1-2 shift when piloting the Grecale. Got to enjoy these things while we can. BTW The 4 cylinder engine on the GT and Modena also make a similar so...
