Well, for what the Royal Oak is worth, I could probably have a large fleet of used Kia Souls ;-)

You don't see this every day. 2013 Kia Soul.

I know you all love your Porsches, Maseratis, Astons, Alpines, Cadillac Blackwings (!), etc. But free your minds a bit... This bad boy belts out 164 HP @ 6500 RPM. Front wheel drive, manual hand brake, a few power windows even work. With my daughter off a...

Before the troops gonna comment about your KIA. No Ferrari? No Dodge Challenger Hellcat? It’s good to keep our feet on the ground.

Love the post!

Start things small to teach the next generation the value of hard work. Best of luck, hope it serves as well as my early Honda Civics served me

Hondas and Toyotas are the ones that come to mind for the best long term reliability

But we have been very pleased with the Kia. I'm guessing we have put 20,000 miles on it. It only had about 50k when we got it, so it is still very low considering the year. Our kids are definitely workers, long before they drove. The mindset applies to mo...

I like your philosophy of life

….especially in terms of what you teach your kids, and I aspire to do a similar approach for my kids, the value of hard work. By the way, we also have a Kia

Thank you, Sir. Parenting is surely not easy. We, like you, do the best we can.

We are not perfect, not by a long shot, but we have tried to lead the kids as best we know how. I'm very proud of them. A daughter 1 month into college, and a son finishing senior year in high school. We just had some awesome highs with these two in recen...

Funny!

I didn't even notice the car brand until you pointed it out! Will your daughter use the car in her latter years in college?

Yes, I think so.

Starting out, we wanted her fully focused on school and the transition. Today marks 1 month, feels like so much longer without my little girl at home.

Awww! Makes sense. My parents were the same way for my first year.

Big hug to you my friend! I didn't bring the car until subsequent years. I'm sure your daughter is very appreciative that you're looking after her machine on her behalf!

Much appreciated, Patrick.

It is a tough transition for kids. But for loving parents too. I know kids who can't wait to leave the nest, and I know parents who can't wait for their kids to leave. Neither of those conditions apply in my home, and I thank God for that!

Very nice!!!

My first college “car” was this single cylinder 500… I think I “paired” it with a Swiss Army watch. 🤣 ...

That is awesome! A proper way to move around!

Great looking machine. Bet it still runs today for whoever owns it (or still in your stable?).

God no…my best friend wrecked it after a year or two…

I moved on to a number of Honda Interceptors… VF500F, VF700F (all white model) VF 750F great bikes…🎶memories🎵

Remember to drive the car regularly!

And it needs a new tank of gas every 90 days as gas goes bad after around 100 days or so! So remember to drive it a lot!

Yes Sir. Keeping the fuel fresh.

My daily is a Sierra 1/2 ton, and I have to admit, it is quite refreshing to pilot (and park!) something on the small side!

I really like the Kia Soul ...

.. I always liked quirky cars btw Apparently in Europe it has a 140 hp 1.6 engine, so I guess yours might be a 2 litre ? Stay safe, don't put it on it's side ;-) ... with that handbrake . Filip

I believe it is a 2.0L

The car was available with both engines. We bought it used, this one happened to have the "large" motor. I'm not sure how many cars are made with manual handbrakes anymore. Might have to try it in the snow ;-)
