Of course they both have a slightly lower importance in Europe but not a better standing. The Corvette - in most countries - is immediately linked to the red light district, which is a shame.

The Prius is generally reviled, even more scorn being heaped on it in the German speaking world than on Japanese cars generally. The automotive nationalism is a strongly observable trait in some circles but Prius is really a car with proper engineering and has been truly revolutionary for the time. Sure, driving pleasure is not part of the spec sheet but nor is it for a heavy goods vehicle or a commercial jet - all have different priorities they are designed for and the Prius is supremely fit for purpose. Not my purpose, so not going to get one but I can still respect it.

Adding to the list, the Mazda Miata / MX-5 is also often ridiculed as a hair dressers‘ car. Unfortunate...
