... but in my view this is an utterly pointless exercise for a number of reasons. Speed records are so mid-20th century and 300 mph was first done in the 1930s, definitely pre WW II. It is fun to accelerate quickly at times but who cares if a production car can do 200, 250, or 300 mph. Even in my country w no speed limit nobody travels much faster than 200 mph for a short time and much faster than 150 mph for a long time. In my view 100 mph is plenty for anybody. From a technology point of view I also have little respect for this "achievement" given we are two decades into the 21st century...
