Hi, AV,
Thanks for being a supporter over all these years.
Something that I find to be fairly unique (is that an oxymoron?) on ThePuristS and PuristSPro is that while we are fans of the brands and their products, we are not blinded fan-BOYS who can see no wrong in the brand of their choice.
I recall mentioning to my friends at Lamborghini that the earliest Aventador's really showed their weight on the track, were a bit too "soft" even in corsa mode, and the hyperbole about the transmission was blinding them to its shortcomings. I was dismissed out of hand, and even among fellow consumers I was told I was crazy...but lo and behold, suspension settings, transmission settings on later production Aventadors were dialled in for...you guessed it!
I've long said my experience with the early SLS at Laguna Seca was underwhelming, and loved my time in your later SLS SOOOO much more, yet I was unanimously told I was imagining things, or worse...thanks for confirming my "gut" feeling, and so much more reassuring coming from a long term owner with MANY miles in the driver's seat of both early and late model SLS.
You mention AMG's and rapid depreciation...a landmine laden field...I'm not sure I agree entirely with your implied correlation, but there is a grain of sense in it.
Cheers,
TM
