Very cool! Love those AMG wagons and glad to see you're getting the most out of it! There's so much potential in those turbo AMG motors it's almost a shame not to tune it! :)

Modern cars are sooooo tunable. Today's heavy handed regulations and normalization of parts and assembly means the cars are all pretty similar with just a few things turned on or off to fit the product line. Realizing electrification is around the corner and my next car will probably be an SUV I went down the rabbit hole with my GT4 with a fully built engine and transmission. The first dyno post engine build was ~+70hp at the wheels and with some additional tuning and exhaust picked up another ~+15hp since. The dyno below shows how the factory engine cut the power at around 6500 rpm (yellow) whereas the modified engine (green) keeps building power all the way to near redline (8k rpm). That said, outright power was kind of a secondary goal, the real mission was to change the power band of the engine so that it felt sharper, angrier, and had the kind of zingy top end that makes it exciting to chase redline.
I've modified all my previous cars with small and sometimes lackluster dyno results. Most mods never made as much as they claimed some even losing power compared to stock so generally I'm a skeptical person when it comes to power mods but I've been totally floored at the potential of some modern cars. Certainly choosing the right shop/tuner is super important and cars are more complex than ever but thanks to the internet there's more transparency as well and some really amazing work in the aftermarket that bubbles to the top.

Power to the Pedal
By: Tick Talk : June 20th, 2021-14:47
As motorheads, we love to talk modifications and the power they produce as measured with our butt-dynos. Following a "mild" tune to my AWD Mercedes sled, thought I'd try a real dyno to gauge any increase to wheel horsepower. As it turned out, the boost wa...
the wagons are sexy but very rare in North America
By: Tick Talk : June 20th, 2021-17:11
seems preferences are for SUV here instead but I always admired the wagons in Europe. We often drive the mountain roads and with adaptive suspension set to sport it can carve with the best of them. Too funny to have some bike or "sports" car blast by at i...
Aaah, my friend, I am working on that right now with my Alpine.
By: amanico : June 20th, 2021-16:21
I have to say I am reluctant to chip tuning. For example, there are many guys here and there who are offering chip tuning programs for the Alpine. Most of them don't respect the maximum values a gear box can " eat ". So, my way of thinking is the followin...

there are many fake tunes or even worse, dangerous ones! Often they choose based on price, so what can they expect? Your shopping list looks comprehensive, should make that Alpine sing! Mine was by RennTech which was started by AMG by founding partner Har...
There is an E63s wagon in my neighborhood…
By: mdg : June 20th, 2021-18:40
…that is beautiful…I much prefer it to the sedan version. As far as tweaking the chips, I don’t think I could bring myself to do it until after the warranty was up, and even then it would be nice to have it reversible just in case. Of course, with an AMG ...

BEAST
By: Tick Talk : June 21st, 2021-13:55
there often follows the debate of which engine is preferred, NA or one of the turbos. The weakness of that package IMHO are the tires being too narrow for our terrible roads. I’ve repaired 4 rims in five years due to potholes :-(
you can never have enough hp
By: jerry6 : September 14th, 2021-19:24
no matter how much i increase the power after 2 weeks of driving the car it feels slow . it never ends . no butt dyno a real dyno rates mine at 550 hp 570 tq at the crank , plenty for a 2800 lb car
still not enough
By: jerry6 : September 14th, 2021-22:23
might do something sacrilege and add a supercharger or some other power adder . I still prefer NA simple and fewer complications
it's an old car

had the car up to 160 mph with plenty left in reserve , but like I said gets light at speed . to old to be taking chances . really needs some kind of aero package if I want to take it higher . in theory car should be able to hit 180mph ++ in overdrive . I...
