Only Engines
Nov 27, 2022,15:18 PM
Pete is an engine builder -- by that I mean he MAKES engines, not just puts some parts together for you. He can't help himself...
For example, after noticing that the cylinder spacing on a Chevy big block was almost identical to that of a Porsche 928 motor, he put the OHC heads from the porker onto a big alloy block!
So you don't accuse Pete of just grafting parts together, you should know he also has built engines from scratch, like this 20L V12
Since that's too much for most of us to even conceive fitting into a vehicle, Pete can offer lots of other alternatives.
Not all the engines go onto stands when their job is done, record set, etc. Some still live in cars.
To add some spice to the day, Pete and Company hung a rod from the ceiling and ran a contest to see who could guess its weight.
But the hit of the afternoon was this Hyundai Accent junkyard engine contest. Pete drained the engine oil, started it up, propped the throttle wide open, and we had a lottery to guess how long it would take to blow up.
In case you are wondering, the poor thing went for almost 13 minutes until it finally expired. Two people guessed the time, and split the $400 purse.
If anyone is interested, I can upload the video on YouTube upon request. In the meantime, here's Pete and his right hand man Kevin explaining their V12 engine
