How spacious are your driveway and parking outside the garage?

Aug 17, 2019,10:14 AM

My observation is this - multi-level lifts are very useful for filling that empty air space but you need room to bring out the ground floor vehicles first before you start taking down the stacked cars.

My greatest problem with my storage is where to put the 'everyday' cars while I am extracting the Lotus or Citroens, because our street parking is limited. I usually have to move 3 cars first which involves parking and walking back home a couple times. Maybe I need a turntable on the driveway and another lift up the side of the house ... smile

My friend who runs the Auto Museum restoration shop spends hours a day jockeying cars up/down and in/out. As a private person you wouldn't have the issues he does but still it greatly impacts the desire to ever drive the car at the back and top of the lifts.

I know my neighbor hasn't had his Pantera out for a very long while ... He wishes he had put all his junk on the lift and left the car on the ground.

I recently looked at a new-construction house which claimed a 5-car garage. It's quite deep but not so wide, and it's low. An elevator and stairs took up at least 2 cars worth of space. Plus due to the hillside and crowded short dead-end street off a major divided thoroughfare, there is no open parking within blocks of the driveway.

Not good for me.

But your new garage looks very no-compromise-wonderful. A big clean empty rectangle ready for toys. And you have enough electrical outlets to keep all the trickle chargers going without running cables everywhere (another point to remember with cars on lifts)

Congratulations!

Cazalea

New garage finished...

 By: Dave G : August 17th, 2019-07:11
After many years I finally built a dedicated garage. Finished painting it myself (with some help from my kids) over the past week. Cabinets remaining as the next project to clear the boxes. Now to decide on adding a mezzanine or a lift (7 meter ceilings)....

Definitely go for a lift ....

I see they make double wide and triple stack versions as well which I am considering.

Great garage and selection of cars.

But I am happy to compliment this new space (and wonderful items it covers).

Nice garage, the chamber of hidden pleasures.

This is a unit (zoned condominium) in a development built by a speciality commercial builder for Auto storage. There is a lot outside for parking. I have up to six cars in the space and can empty all of them in less than five minutes. Reload in the same t...

Ah, now that sounds like my kind of place!

The TTS is a great daily. I think mine has been clean maybe 4 total times in it's life time.

But I'm expecting twins in December on top of having a beautiful baby girl so I am afraid my watch and car buying will come to an extreme slow down. I'm allowed one more car which will be the 992 RS when it comes out. And then that's it, it was a good run...

Much fewer than what I had.

Just lost the passion so to say. But I kept about half a dozen to switch out when needed.

Great cars! [nt]

With that hight you could probably get 12 cars in your garage.. Have some experience with car lifts but don’t know who has them in your country..
