My wife did some car-spotting while grocery shopping

Obviously a couple of Fifties Bow-Tie fans (so-named for the shape of Chevy's badge)

This wagon is just customized enough for me.

Same with the truck - straight, shiny, subtle tie-downs for cargo, a few tiny alterations here and there.

If you are a fan of animator Nick Park's Wallace & Gromit, you might see a similarity in the appearance of this next pickup:

While she was having fun shopping, I was coming back from the garden center. I pulled over because for the first time, I spotted the owner of a fleet of modified Jeeps that I see often. After a chat, he invited me to take some pictures of his wife's "everyday driver" with 4 doors, 4WD, Auto, and a hundred custom features she chose and color-coordinated to suit herself.

18 inches / 50 cm ground clearance is "adequate" for all their rock-crawling in Anza-Borrego, Moab, Sierra Nevada, and shopping malls. If you look carefully at the rims you can see they have been well-used.

Here's an image of her driving "to the grocery store"

and driving home!

His Jeep looks almost the same, with green fittings instead of yellow. Lots of subtle mods ( learned from hard experience) make the Jeeps reliable off-roading.

A friend was over chatting with them. This is his Jeep.

They said their average off-road, on-rock speed is 2.5 mph - looking at the photos I believe it.

I hope this gives you some idea of what you could do on your weekend!

Cheers,

Cazalea

Is very nice, looks like it rolled out the factory, paint and everything. This is a part of California I miss, seeing cool cars on the regular. Thanks for posting
