My favourite machine! BMW 1M.
Yes I love my Reverso and I love my 2 Leica cameras but my absolute favourite machine is my BMW 1M. Limited production and it gives me joy every time I drive it!! 739 were sold in the US market. Mine is #274.
It’s our only family car, daily car, winter car, weekend car, everything car....

BMW ditched hydraulic steering and added a lot of tech to their newer cars. The 1M was sort of a last hurrah to the more analog years. Manual transmission ONLYX. No significant tech except for a throttle amplifying button. Mechanical LSD. Fixed suspension...

This is why I love smaller and lighter cars. The sensations aren’t lost! The 1M isn’t light but still lighter than what came after.

The 1M does great in the winter!! I run Michelin X-ice3 snow tires all around and have never felt unsafe or insecure on them. I should mention that for years I drove Audis with quattro and was a little nervous about switching to a high performance RWD car...
