McLaren announces a track only version of the 12C, bridging the gap between the mainly street 12C (though still highly track capable) and the hard core 12C GT3 and 12C GT Can-Am Edition.
Designed by McLaren GT, the race car building arm of the McLaren Group, the 12C GT Spring features
The optimised 3.8 liter twin turbo V-8 produces 625PS, with optimized aerodynamics and cooling upgrades. Riding 40mm lower, the GT Sprint comes standard with carbon ceramic brake discs and an on-board air jacking system to assist in chaning the center-lock 19inch OZ wheels shod with Pirelli slicks.
Also standard is an FIA approved rollcage and integrated fire extinguisher system, as well as. ahem, an air-conditioning system (albeit a lightweight version)
Additional bespoke options include a more extreme aero CF kit, and optional lightweight polycarbonate windscreen.
Standard color is McLaren Orange, though I imagine other colors and livery will be possible.
It will be very interesting to see how the GT Sprint version does on track against the Porsche Cup car...
The GT Sprint debuted at Goodwood Festival of Speed July 11th-14th.
