My car is also the last of the Mohicans

May 23, 2020,14:35 PM

And i wil tell why.

I drive a Honda Civic Diesel.
A story.

But when i resume my story, i like your Renault Clio Sport story. Great sporty bomb.

Why my car is also the last real great Diesel in it’s segment.
It is a reliable car of Japanese make. Toyota and Lexus are the winners of the high quality car league. (Own opinion)
But... Toyota and Lexus ban Diesel cars. Reason, too much failures with the technology.
Honda had not even 1 problem. So Nissan is there, but also my own opinion, Toyota is the best and Honda follows quickly at the second place.
So i own a Honda with a fat 2.2 Diesel engine with specs that Peugeot, BMW, and also Renault made, but with the knowledge it is strong, can not break down.
With all the anti news about diesel cars and the car makers are put into a corner of curse.
A great technology which is not dirty, but set into the dirty and unclean corner.
My diesel Honda Civic is clean, and i can even drive climate nutral, i can fill the tank with green diesel oil made of fruit waste and drive without any problems.
But the diesel cars must go away, so i own the last of the Mohicans.
A problem free car which is sustainable as centuries, greener than green. Fast, strong, fuel economic, co2 circle nutral.
But before i go to cry, i want an electric car. Why?
I like new technologies, look ahead, see how Tesla’s win sprint duals, i breath petrol and i like electronics also.
But how diesel cars are put away as dirty is politics.

Turbo versus atmospheric. Two clubs.
It is almost like mechanical watches versus quartz watches.
I am a turbo guy. Explained, it push up, fuel economical, more torque under rpm regions so shifting gear is another story.
Also the kompressor at the crack shaft mostly on Mercedes engines is great to drive. In English they call it a supercharger.
Natural aspirated engines are for me only interesting if the engines are big and tuned like yours and for example Porsche engines.
In a normal car a turbo boost a bit, so it feels not too slow.

The last tru great diesel car in it’s segment. (c segment).
150hp 350nm torque. Goodby Honda Civic diesel. 👋🏼

Last of the Mohicans ... as ‘they’ say.

10 years ago i went to the Renault dealership for the first time. I have been a fan of the small Clio Sport ever since the Mk2 came out around 2001-2002. Later on a couple of my friends bought the Mk3 phase 1 RS with 197 hp, in 2009 the phase 2 came out w...

Cool! 👍🏻🤭🍀☀️

Maybe I should do that for my Megan RS F1 R26 as well... ...

Fabulous car as well !

 By: bimbeano : May 23rd, 2020-15:26
Back in 2010 i tried the Megane RS 250 as well but opted for the Clio since at the time i didn’t like the character of the turbo engine. Your R26 really looks the business , white color, the discrete decalls and the dark wheels. Two years ago i addedthe n...

I owned and still own a few dieselcars.

 By: bimbeano : May 23rd, 2020-15:38
I still have my 2007 Audi A4 2.0 diesel with 136 hp and 320 Nm as well as a 2018. Renault Trafic Van 1.6 diesel with 125 hp and 320 Nm like the Audi but pushed out of a 1600 cc. Amazingly this tiny engine pushes that van like it’s peanuts 😀. Yup diesel en...

Yes Filip, i agree 100% politicians are killing all what is good. They ban cigarettes, so what is next? Beer free restaurants, and closing friet kottes because people can eat to much friet and that is bad for them? Where is freedom? Are we going to be lik...

A gas-electric hybrid. No plug-in. No automatic or CVT, just an honest 5-spd with electric boost when you need it. 995cc 3-cylinder with forged pistons (slightly oval), two rings, cracked rod caps vs cut, so they fit perfectly when bolted on, indexed spar...

Nice car you have there Cazalea. For many years i wanted that Insight, because of the futuristic approach. I could not buy that great Insight, because Honda do not export the car to Europe. We’ve got the CR-Z here, but i made other choices. I always dream...

NSX and S2000 both aluminum structures and from the same factory as the Insight

 By: cazalea : May 23rd, 2020-15:48
Building those expensive cars enabled Honda to sneak in the Insight and build it cost-effectively between the "big $$ guys". When they went out of production at Honda's Takanezawa plant, so did the Insight.

I’ve always found this to be an odd car ...

... but for some mysterious reason i am pretty sure that i would really like the driving experience. I bet you i can do better than that 61 US mpg with your car 😜. Offcourse that’s a number one can reach with any dieselcar but try that with a petrol car. ...

This Honda was pure genius...

It’s a great car Mike ...

A true modern classic. Yours is a great colour. Difficult to find a good one these days.

Actually it's very difficult even to find parts for it

 By: cazalea : May 23rd, 2020-16:16
The Honda dealers "don't want to know" it's a Honda when you come in -- there were so few sold and such different mechanical components (and body panels). It took almost a year of hunting to get a new A pillar skin because they all fly off after windscree...

Thanks, that was fascinating...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : May 23rd, 2020-16:29
I almost got one.

Yes, that was a good one, wasn't it?

I had the first element in San Diego, bought it the day they went on sale. And ordered that plate the same day at the DMV. I sold the Element for a low price a few years later, to a friend who had fallen on hard times, and he still has it today. I've trie...

for track days . Pls tell me the LSD standard or have you got equipped?

For track days it is the ideal car.

 By: bimbeano : May 23rd, 2020-16:04
Relatively cheap ... but very cheap compared to any other car that maybe gives you the same fun. LSD is not standard but if you buy one of these Clio’s secondhand chances are big you want to overhaul the gearbox. Any good car mechanic can take out the gea...

My first car was a 1.4 Renault Clio RT 1995 model! I was 17, so 20 years ago now. Obviously not cool or sporty, but I loved it!

Actually i think ...
