I went into one, at my Volvo AD, just to see how it was inside. And I was very surprised by the level of quality, little attentions, and how good I felt inside.
I tested a T6 4 Cyl 310 HP or something like that, in a break, the V70. I was puzzled by the power, indeed, and also by the sound, but they installed a sport exhaust, which according to the dealer, was mandatory if you wanted to have some extra sensations.
The noise of the exhaust was fabulous, close to the melody of a 5 Cylinders.
Now, the V 70 is not as heavy as the XC 90 ( well, I guess ).
Still, I am sad to see that there are no more 5 Cyl, but are the 6 and 8 Cylinders out?

My sentiments are definitely in-line with yours. For a genuinely sporty, personally appealing SUV I'd get a Cayenne GTS. For a primarily family-friendly SUV with all the safety tech you could wish for I'd get an XC90. Happy driving! Cheers, Filip
